Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the gas permeability of a starting material layer for sintering by adding a specified amount of a void-contg. substance which is burned by sintering to starting material for sintering prepared by mixing fine ores with fuel such as coke in or after the latter half of a granulating process and charging the material onto a pallet.
CONSTITUTION: Starting material for sintering prepared by mixing fine ores and limestone with fuel such as coke is sintered to manufacture sintered ore. At this time, 0.05W2wt% void-contg. substance which is burned by sintering such as rice hulls is added to the material and mixed in or after the latter half of the granulating process, and the mixed material is charged onto the pallet so as to form a lower layer occupying ≤75% of the starting material layer on the pallet from the bottom. Thus, by enhancing the gas permeability of the starting material layer for sintering, the quality of sintered ore is enhanced, and the productivity is also improved.
