Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the formation and growth of secondary hematite by a method wherein part of the whole amount of limestone is mixed at an begining stage of a raw material mixing process and the remainder is mixed at a subsequent stage, or the whole amount of limestone is mixed at the subsequent stage, in a down-draft type sintering method.
CONSTITUTION: When sintering an iron ore powder by a down-draft type sintering machine or the like, part of the required amoung of limestone to be added in the raw material mixing process is mixed at the begining stage of the process, and the remainder is mixed at the subsequent stage. Or, alternatively, the whole of the required amount of limestone is mixed at the subsequent stage. When the charge materials can be charged at two stages by two-stage charging or other similar means, the required amount of limestones to be added at a lower-layer material for a sintering layer is added in the form of divided charges as above mentioned.
