CONSTITUTION: When sintering the powder of iron ore by the bottom gas-intake type sintering machine, coarse particles of lime having a particle size of 0.5W10mm, inclusive, are mixed into the powder of iron ore together with other mixing materials. Accordingly, the reaction of the lime in the sintering process is retarded, the formation or growth of the secondary hematite is controlled, and Fe2O3 and CaO are positively reacted with eath other at the time when the atmosphere in the system becomes oxidizing in the later period of the sintering process, thereby forming calcium-ferrite.
