Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the title ore, used in a blast furnace, by uniformly mixing iron-contg. powder raw material with metal powder and silicate or zirconate mixed with water and by granulating the mixt. to naturally harden the raw material without requiring calcination.
CONSTITUTION: Iron-contg. powder raw material such as fine iron ore or iron- contg. dust is mixed with a binder such as sodium silicate or sodium zirconate mixed with water in a ratio of 1:1W3:1. This mixt. is further mixed with 5W10% of metal powder such as Fe-Si, Al or reduced iron. NaOH formed by hydrolysis of the sodium silicate or sodium zirconate and the metal powder induce exothermic reaction and naturally harden the raw material without requiring calcination. Thus, lumped ore for steel making raw material is easily manufactured having enough strength to withstand high press. in a blast furnace.
