Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the air permeability in the furnace core part of a blast furnace so that the blast furnace waves are stabilized, the operating efficiency of the blast furnace is improved and the life of the blast furnace is extended by charging a specified amt. of good-quality coke having excellent air permeability to the furnace core part at the time of the blast furnace operation. CONSTITUTION:The good-quality lump coke CB having the excellent air permeability and liquid permeability is charged into th central part of an ore layer O and thereafter, the ordinary coke CA is charged around the coke CB in order to improve the air permeability in the furnace core part and to stabilize the furnace waves at the time of forming raw material layers by alternately charging the coke CA and the ore O from the blast furnace top. A relation rt>=0.03Rt is maintained between the radius Rt of the raw material layer in the furnace top part and the radius rt in the axial central part of the furnace and the ratio of the good-quality coke CB to be charged to the rt part is maintained at >=0.2% of the total coke quantity so that the ratio of the good-quality coke occupied in the furnace core coke C0 in the bottom part attains about >=5%.
