La présente invention concerne des produits . d’essuyage à jeter utiles pour une large variété d'ap plications dans l’industrie et chez les consommateurs, i 5 notamment dans les industries automobile, alimentaire J et électrique, ainsi que pour l’essuyage dans les tra- ] . vaux ménagers en général. Ces produits d’essuyage doi- ,j ' vent être d’un faible coût, tout en possédant une soli- ! dité, une capacité d'absorption, une nature textile et 10 d’autres propriétés souhaitables pour de telles appli-|| cations d’essuyage. D’une manière générale, les tissus ijj non tissés ont reçu un accueil très favorable en tant j que produits d’essuyage non tissés à jeter à la fois pour des applications spécifiques et l'essuyage en gé-15 néral. Pour de nombreuses applications de ce type, les produits d’essuyage non tissés peuvent surpasser les produits d'essuyage traditionnels en tissu et en ,| papier. Toutefois, pour certaines applications, il est souhaitable d’améliorer davantage encore certaines ..... 20 propriétés des produits d’essuyage non tissés telles * que la résistance au peluchage et au rayage, tandis qu’il est généralement souhaitable d’accroître leur so- ^ lidité et leur capacité d'absorption.
Dans le brevet des Etats-Unis d’Amérique • - » 25 4.307.143 accordé le 22 décembre 1981 au nom de Meitner, on décrit des produits d’essuyage constitués de microfibres soufflées en masse fondue et qui sont traités 8 _ avec un agent tensio-actif et gaufrés. Ces produits d'essuyage manifestent de meilleures propriétés d'ab-30 sorption et d’essuyage comparativement aux matières dont sont constitués les produits d'essuyage traditionnels. Dans le brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique 4.298.649 du 3 novembre 1981 au nom de Meitner,
Ion décrit un produit d’essuyage non tissé à plusieurs 35 composants comportant une couche de microfibres souf- i i / * 2 i i fiées en masse fondue en combinaison avec une pellicu le fendue ou une couche de mousse fïbrillée. Ce pro- i f duit d’essuyage présente une faible tendance à attirer , les copeaux métalliques, ce qui le rend particulière- 5 ment intéressant dans le traitement de finition des I . * véhicules automobiles. Cette propriété est obtenue f sans altérer sensiblement les propriétés d’essuyage.

- ' Le brevet des Etats-Unis d’Amérique 4.328.279 du 4 mai 1982 aux noms de Meitner et Englebert concer-10 ne un produit d'essuyage non tissé constitué de fibres soufflées en masse fondue et traité avec certains agents tensio-actifs pour lui conférer une faible teneur en sodium qui est particulièrement intéressante pour des applications d’essuyage dans l’industrie de i 15 l’électronique. Le brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique | 4.041.203 du 9 août 1977 aux noms de Brock et ! Meitner concerne des tissus non tissés et des matières d’emballage stériles fabriqués en combinant des cou-; ' . :Ihr..ches de fibres thermoplastiques soufflées en masse fon- 203iEâue avec une bu plusieurs couches de filaments thërmo- .......-plastiques continus. Dans la description de ce bre- · vet, il est stipulé que l’on peut traiter ces matières .pour leur conférer une capacité d’absorption et les utiliser dans des applications d'essuyage. Le brevet ^* 25 des Etats-Unis d'Amérique 4.196.245 du 1 avril 1980 aux noms de'Kitson, Gilbert, Jr., et Israel concerne un tissu non tissé composite utile dans les articles chirurgicaux à jeter et qui peut comprendre une ou plusieurs couches de fibres soufflées en masse fondue qui 30 sont liées de manière lâche à une ou plusieurs couches de fibres liées par filage.
La préparation de nappes de microfibres de polyoléfines est connue et décrite, par exemple, par Wendt dans "Industrial and Engineering Chemistry”, volu-35 me 48, N° 8 (1956), pages 1342 à 1346, ainsi que dans / 3 les brevets des Etats-Unis d’Amérique 3.978.185 accordé j; le 31 août 1976 aux noms de Buntin et al., 3.795.571 l: accordêle 5 mars 1974 au nom de Prentice et' 3.811.957 I·: accordêle 21 mai 1974 au nom de Buntin. Le brevet de 5 Buntin et al. révèle également que des mats de micro-. , fibres de polyoléfines soufflées en masse fondue sont !i utiles comme chiffons à essuyer et matière d’absorption - - des hydrocarbures.
La fabrication de filaments pratiquement con-ij 10 tinus est également connue et des techniques adoptées i I à cet effet sont illustrées à titre d’exemple dans les brevets des Etats-Unis d’Amérique 3.338.992 et 3.341.394 au nom de Kinney, 3.276.944 au nom de Levy, 3.502.538 au nom de Peterson, 3.502.763 et 3.509.009 au nom de 15 Hartmann, 3.542.615 au nom de Dobo, ainsi que dans le brevet Canadien 803.714 au nom de Hamon. On peut également se référer au brevet précité des Etats-Unis d’Amérique 4.041.203 aux noms de Broch et Meitner en ce qui , ..concerne· des procédés de fabrication de combinaisons de j *ibres thermoplastiques soufflées en masse fondue et . -*de fibres thermoplastiques à filaments continus. Dans ' .Iriiltda demande de brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique VS.N. 146.450 aux noms de Appel et Morman (à présent brevet des Etats-Unis d’Amérique 4.340.563 du 25 20 juillet 1982),on décrit un autre procédé de fabrica tion de nappes thermoplastiques à filaments continus.
La présente invention concerne un produit d’essuyage non tissé perfectionné se caractérisant par une faible tendance au peluchage et une tendance réduite au 30 rayage, tout en manifestant également une meilleure capacité d’absorption. Ce produit d’essuyage est une combinaison d'une couche de microfibres thermoplastiques soufflées en masse fondue d’un poids de base relativement élevé comportant, sur chaque face, une couche J 35 relativement légère de fibres thermoplastiques à fila- ! .(__v / » 4 ments continus de plus grand diamètre. Tous les composants sont traités avec un agent tensio-actif pour ! ' leur conférer une aptitude à l'imprégnation, tandis que la combinaison est, de préférence, liée par forma-i 5 tion d'un dessin moyennant l'application de chaleur et ;j d'une pression. Le produit d’essuyage obtenu a l’as- ’j _ pect d'un tissu, il peut être conformé et il est utile |j - pour de nombreuses applications industrielles, ainsi que pour l'essuyage en général. Les matières thermo-! 10 plastiques préférées sont les polyoléfines et les compo-
Isants individuels sont, de préférence, élaborés à partir du même polymère ou à partir de polymères ayant des températures de fusion semblables. Les agents tensio-actifs préférés comprennent les agents tensio-actifs 15 ioniques et non ioniques tels que l'ester dioctylique de l'acide sulfosuccinique de sodium ("Aerosol OT").

Dans certains cas, il est également 15 . souhaitable d'incorporer d'autres matières à la nappe j soufflée en masse fondue, par exemple, des fibres de cellulose. Les nappes à filaments continus peuvent être 25 fabriquées comme décrit dans les brevets identifiés ci- I dessus ou dans la demande de brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique S.N. 146.450 aux noms de Appel et Morman (à présent brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique 4.340.563 du 20 juillet 1982). Des polymères appropriés 30 comprennent les mêmes polymères que ceux utilisés dans le procédé de soufflage en masse fondue. De préférence, les polymères utilisés pour les couches constituti-' ves sont les mêmes.

On mentionnera, par exemple, 25 l'ester dioctylique de l'acide sulfosuccinique de sodium ("Aerosol OT"), 1’isooctyl-phénylpolyêthoxy-éthanol ("Triton X-100 et X-102") et autres.
La combinaison des nappes constitutives est effectuée, de préférence, par formation d'un dessin 30 moyennant l'application de chaleur et d'une pression. Les conditions de liaison particulières dépendront de la matière spécifique, mais, en règle générale, il est préférable d’adopter un dessin de liaisons dans lequel on utilise environ 2 à 38 pointes/cm2 (de préférence, j 35 3 ä 17 liaisons/cm2) pour un pouvoir couvrant d'envi- 7 ron 5 à 25¾ (de préférence, de 10 à 15¾) de la surface. Pour le polypropylène, par exemple, la température de liaison se situe, de préférence, dans l’intervalle d’environ 82 à 166°C avec une pression se situant, de 5 préférence, dans l'intervalle d’environ 26,7 à environ . - 71,2 kg/cm linéaire. D'autres opérations de for-15 mation et de combinaison pouvant être utilisées apparaîtront à l'homme de métier et l'invention n’est aucunement limitée à l'opération décrite spécifiquement ici.

Des nappes de filaments continus liés par filage 24 et 26 provenant de rouleaux de base 23 et 25 respectivement sont combinées avec le voile 18 à l'étranglement 31 entre les rouleaux de changement de direction 27 et 29. Cette combinaison est ensuite liée 30 par application de chaleur et d'une pression à l'étranglement 30 d'une calandre de formation de dessin défini entre un rouleau à dessin 33 et un rouleau formant enclume 35, le lamifié 37 ainsi formé étant bobiné en un rouleau de base 32 qui peut être découpé en éléments 35 d’essuyage individuels comme illustré, par exemple, en i ί

. . L'invention sera à présent décrite par un I exemple spécifique illustrant une forme de réalisation.
; Exemple 1
On a formé, de la manière décrite ci-après, 10 une nappe de microfihres soufflées en masse fondue ayant un poids de base de 54 g/m2 conformément au procédé décrit dans le brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique 3.978.185 aux noms de Buntin et al. : On a utilisé une résine de polypropylène ayant un indice de fusion de 15 145 g,mesuré à 177°C,et désignée par "Exxon PD 3145".
La productivité était de 16.720 m2 par heure et la collecte a été effectuée à une distance de 35,5 cm sur une toile de formation. Les fibres soufflées en masse ..... fondue ont été intégrées en une nappe formée générale-20|i^ient de la manière illustrée en figure 1. Sur chacune - —des faces opposées de la nappe de microfibres soufflées ‘^âfien masse fondue, on a appliqué une nappe de filaments f;lT^-:cpntinus formée à partir d'une résine de polypropylène - ayant un indice de fusion de 10-11 g,mesuré à 177°C, et . * . 25 désignée par "Exxon PD 3045" (préparée conformément au brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amérique 4.041.203 du * 9 août 1977 aux noms de Brock et Meitner) et l'on a lié ces nappes par formation d'un dessin généralement de la manière illustrée dans le brevet des Etats-Unis d'Amé-30 rique "Design" 264.512 du 18 mai 1982, à une température de 143°C et sous une pression de 39,16 kg/cm linéaire avec un dessin de liaisons comportant 47 pointes/carré de surface, chaque pointe ayant une surface individuelle moyenne de 0,018 cm2. La combinaison avait un poids de 35 base de 80 g/m2, ainsi que d'autres propriétés repri- L- t 9 ses dans le tableau ci-après.
Exemple 2
On a répété l’exemple 1, avec cette exception que la nappe de microfibres soufflées en masse 5 fondue contenait également 50¾ en poids de fibres de pâte de bois ajoutées de la manière décrite dans le ;! brevet des Etats-Unis d’Amérique 4.100.324 du 11 juillet 1978 aux noms de Anderson, Sokolowski et ! «t
Ostermeier. La combinaison avait un poids de base 10 de 110 g/m2 comprenant 86 g/m2 de microfibres souf- i-j fiées en masse fo'ndue/f ibres de pâte de bois’et 12 g/m2 de chaque polypropylène lié par filage·.

Comme le montre ce tableau, le produit d’essuyage de la présente invention possède des caractéris- i tiques améliorées pour l’essuyage de l'huile et de ! l'eau, en particulier, en ce qui concerne la capacité ] 5 d’absorption et l'essuyage sans formation de rayures.
Ces résultats sont particulièrement avantageux dans ä des applications d’essuyage intervenant dans les ser- i] vices alimentaires, par exemple, lorsqu'il s'avère sou vent très important de laisser une surface d'acier ino-10 xydable exempte de rayures. De plus, les caractéristi- !ques de peluchage réduit sont importantes pour l'électronique et d'autres applications dans lesquelles un en-1 vironnement exempt de poussières est considéré comme indispensable. D'autres applications exigeant des pro-; 15 duits d’essuyage de haute qualité apparaîtront d'elles- mêmes, notamment les soins de santé, par exemple, les essuie-mains pour chirurgiens et analogues.

Bien que l'invention ait été décrite en 30 se référant à certaines de ses formes de réalisation spécifiques, il est évident que de nombreuses variantes et modifications apparaîtront à l'homme de métier à la lumière de la description ci-dessus. Claims (9)
1. Produit d'essuyage constitué d'un lamifié comprenant une nappe ayant un poids de base se situant dans l'intervalle d'environ 17 à 170 g/m2 et constituée de microfibres thermoplastiques soufflées en mas-5 se fondue ayant un diamètre moyen se situant dans l'intervalle allant jusqu'à environ 10 microns et traitées avec un agent tensio-actif, ainsi qu'une nappe appliquée sur les deux faces de la nappe de microfibres soufflées en masse fondue et ayant un poids de ba-10 se se situant dans l’intervalle d'environ 7 à 34 g/m2, cette nappe étant constituée de filaments thermoplastiques généralement continus ayant un diamètre moyen supérieur à environ 10 microns et traités avec un agent tensio-actif.
2. Produit d'essuyage suivant la revendica tion 1, caractérisé en ce que le rapport pondéral entre la nappe de microfibres et les nappes extérieures combinées est d'au moins environ 2 : 1 à environ 4 : 1.
3. Produit d'essuyage;suivant la revendica- 20 tion 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que la nappe de microfibres et les nappes extérieures sont constituées de poly-propy1ène. : :

Produit d'essuyage suivant la revendica- - . tion 3, caractérisé en ce que l'agent tensio-actif uti- 25 lisê pour le traitement de la nappe de microfibres soufflées en masse fondue est choisi parmi le groupe comprenant les agents tensio-actifs ioniques et non ioniques, tandis que l'agent tensio-actif utilisé pour la nappe de filaments continus est choisi parmi le groupe 30 comprenant les agents tensio-actifs ioniques et non ioniques.
5. Produit d'essuyage suivant la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que le lamifié est lié par formation d'un dessin moyennant l'application de cha- 35 leur et d'une pression. / , 14 »
6. Produit d'essuyage suivant la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que le dessin de liaisons occupe environ Sî à 251 de la surface du lamifié, tan-! dis que le nombre de liaisons se situe dans l'inter- | 5 valle allant d’environ 2 à 38 pointes/cm2.
7. Produit d’essuyage suivant la revendica- 1 tion 1, caractérisé en ce que la couche de microfibres | contient jusqu’à environ 70¾ de pâte de bois. "j
8. Produit d'essuyage suivant la revendica- I1 10 tion 1, caractérisé en ce que la couche de microfibres contient jusqu'à environ 70¾ de fibres en mèches.
