본 발명은 자동차용, 식사 서어비스용의 용도를 비롯한 광범위한 산업용 및 소비자용으로 유용하고, 또 전기 산업분야 뿐만 아니라 일반적인 가정용 걸레질에 유용한 일회용 걸레(wiper)제품에 관한 것이다. 이러한 걸레는 가격이 저렴하여야 하며 강도, 흡수도, 천과 같은 특성 및 그러한 걸레 용도에 소망스러운 다른 제반 성질을 갖추어야 한다. 일반적으로, 부직포는 특정 용도 및 일반적인 걸레질 목적을 위한 일희용 부직포 걸레로서 광범위하게 이용되어 왔다. 그러한 많은 용도에 대하여 부직포 걸레는 종래의 헝겊 및 종이 걸레 제품보다 우수한 성질을 나타낼 수 있다. 그러나, 어떤 용도에 대해서는 부푸라기가 일어나지 않고 줄무늬가 생기지 않는 등의 어떤 부직포 걸레의 제반 성질을 더욱 개량시킬 필요가 있으며, 일반적으로 걸레의 흡습도 및 강도의 증가가 요구된다
1981년 l2읠 22일자로 메이트너(Meitner)의 미합중국 특허 제4,307,143호에 계면활성제로 처리하고 요철을 새긴 용융증융(溶融蒸絨)시킨 미세 섬유 걸레가 기재되어 있다. 그러한 걸레는 종래의 걸레 제품과 비교할 때, 흡수도와 걸레질[닦임]성질이 향상되었음이 보여준다. 1981년 11읠 3일자 메이트너의 미합중국 특허제4,298,649호에는 용융증융시킨 미세섬유층을 분리한 박막 또는 섬유화 발포층과 결합시킨 다성분 부직포걸레가 기재되어 있다. 이 걸레는 자동차의 마무리 용도로 특히 흥미있는 금속 칩 픽업 작용이 낮다는 것이다. 이 성질은 걸레질 성질에 중대한 손상을 주는 일이 없이 얻게 된다. 1982년 5월 4일자 메이트너 및 엔글레베르트(Englebert)의 미합중국 특허 제4,328,279호에는 특정 계면활성제로 처리함으로써 전자산업 걸레질에 응용하는데 특히 흥미있는 나트륨 함량이 낮은 용융 증융시킨 부직포 걸레에 관하여 기재하고 있다. 1977년 8읠 9일자 브로크(Brock) 및 메이트너의 미합중국 특허 제4,041,203호는 용융증융시킨 열가소성 섬유와 하나 또는 그 이상의 연속적인 열가소성 필라멘트사 층을 결합하여 제조한 부직포 및 위생 포장 재료에 관한 것이다. 이상의 설명으로 그러한 재료들은 흡수제로 취급될 수 있고 걸레용도로도 사용될 수 있다는 사실을 알 수 있다. 1980년 4월 1일자 키트손(Kitson), 길버트, 이세(Gilbert, Jr.) 및 이스라엘(Israel)의 미합중국 특허 제4,196,245호는 하나 또는 그 이상의 방사 결합된 층과 느슨하게 결합된 하나 또는 그이상의 용융증융시킨 층으로 구성될 수 있는 외과용으로 유용한 일회용 혼성 부직포에 관한 것이다.
폴리올레핀 미세 섬유 직물의 제조방법은 알려져 있고, 또한 예를, 들어 웬트(Wendt)의 산업과 공학 화학(Industrial and Engineering Chemistry) 제48권, 제 8호, 제1342-1346페이지(1956) 뿐만 아니라 1976년 8월 31일자 분틴 및 그의 공동 연구자의 미합중국 특허 제3,978,185호, 1974년 3월 5일자 프렌티스(Prentice)의 미합중국 특허 제3,795,571호 및 1974년 5월 21일자 분틴의 미합중국 특허 제3,811,957호에 기재되어 있다. 더우기, 분틴 및 그의 공동 발명자의 특허는 용융증융시킨 폴리올레핀의 매트가 걸레용 직물 및 탄화수소 흡수물질로 유용하다는 사실을 더 기재하고 있다.
실질적으로 연속 필라멘트의 생산법도 역시 알려져 있는데, 그 본보기 기술은 킨네이(Kinney)의 미합중국 특허 제3,338,992호 및 제3,341,394호, 레비(Levy)의 미합중국 특허 제3,276,944호, 페터슨(Peterson)의 미합중국 특허 제3,502,538호, 하르트만(Hartmann)의 미합중국 특허 제3,502,763호 및 제3,509,009호, 도보(Dobo)의 미합중국 특허 제3,542,615호 및 하몬(Hamon)의 카나다 특허 제803,714호에 설명되어 있다. 또한, 용융증융시킨 열가소성 섬유와 열가소성 연속 필라멘트사 섬유를 결합시키는 방법에 관해서는 전술한 브로크 및 베이트너의 미합중국 특허 제4,041,203호를 참고할 수 었다. 일반적으로 아펠(Appel) 및 모르만(Morman)의 양도된 미합중국 특허출원 제146,450호, 즉 1982년 7월 20일자 미합중국 특허 제4,340,563호에는 열가소성 연속 필라멘트사 직물의 또 다른 제조방법이 기재되어 있다.
본 발명은 짧은 보푸라기가 적고, 줄무늬의 양이 적은 특성을 갖는 반면 흡수도가 개선된 개량된 부직포걸레에 관한 것이다. 이 걸레는 한쪽면은 용융증융시킨 비교적 무거운 기본 중량의 열가소성 미세 섬유층이고 그 이면은 지름이 더 크고 가벼운 중량의 연속 열가소성 필라멘트사 섬유층으로 결합된 것이다. 모든 성분은 습윤성을 위하여 계면활성제로 처리되는데, 그 결합은 문양(紋樣)을 넣은 가열 및 가압에 의해 바람직하게 달성된다. 그 결과 얻은 걸레는 섬유와 유사하고, 적응성이 있고 많은 산업적 용도에 유용할 뿐 아니라 일반적인 걸레질 용도로도 유용하다. 바람직한 열가소성 물질은 폴리올레핀류이며 각기 성분들은 같은 중합체 또는 유사한 융점을 갖는 중합체로부터 제조하는 것이 바람직하다. 바람직한 계면활성제로서는 술포숙신산 나트륨의 디옥틸에스테르(AerosoI OT)와 같은 이온성 또는 비이온성 계면활성제가 있다.
이하, 본 발명은 바람직한 실시예를 들어 상세히 설명하겠으나, 본 발명이 이들 실시예들에 한정되는 것은 아니라는 것을 이해하여야 한다. 단면에, 첨부한 특허 청구의 범위에 의하여 한정되는 본 발명의 범위내에 포함될 수 있는 모든 변형예, 수정예 및 이에 상당하는 것들을 망라한 것이다.
본 발명의 걸레용으로 생산된 용융증융시킨 직물은 1976년 8월 31일자 분틴 및 그의 공동발명자의 미합중국 특허 제3,978,185호에 기재된 공정에 따라 제조되었다. 이 방법은 본 명세서에서 그 전체를 참고로 인용한 것인데, 이에 의하면 용융증융법을 상세히 알 수 있다. 비록 이하 이 실시예가 폴리프로필렌으로 수행되었으나, 본 발명은 그것에 한정되는 것은 아니며, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리에스테르 및 폴리아미드를 포함하는 용융증융시킬 수 있는 다른 열가소성 중합체들도 유용할 것이다. 어떤 경우에 있어서는, 예를 들어 셀룰로오스 섬유와 같은 용융증융시킨 직물내에 다른 물질을 혼합하는 것도 바람직하다. 그러한 직물은 1978년 7월 11일자 안데르손(Anderson), 소콜로브스키(Sokolowaki) 및 오스테르메이어(Ostermeier)의 미합중국 특허 제4,100,324호에 기재되어 있다. 본 발명에 따른 최상 가를 얻기 위해서는, 이 직물이 최소한 약 30중량%의 미세섬유, 바람직하게는 50중량%의 미세 섬유를 함유하여야 한다.
연속 필라멘트사 직물은 전술한 특허 또는 아펠 및 모르만의 미합중국 특허 출원 제146,450호(즉, 1982년 7월 20일자 미합중국 특허 제4,340,563호)에 기재되어 있다. 적당한 중합체는 용융증융 공정에 사용할 수있는 같은 종류의 중합체이다. 성분층에 사용된 중합체는 동일한 것이 바람직하다.
바람직한 실시예에 있어서, 방사 결합층들은 용융증융층과 결합하기 전에 개별적인 형태로 결합된다. 예를 들면 약 153 결합수/in2및 약 25%의 결합 표면적을 갖는 1976년 4월 13일자 보그으(Vogt)의 미합중국 의장등록 제239,566호에 설명된 문양(紋樣)은 아마도 1982년 5월 18일자 미합중국 의장 등록 제264,512호에 나타난 문양과 같이 사용될 수 있다. 이러한 예비 결합은 적층물을 결합시킬 때, 작은 전체 결합 면적의 이용을 가능하게 해준다.
본 발명에 따르면, 용융증융시킨 직물 (첨가된 섬유를 포함하여)은 약 17 내지 170g/㎡의 범위, 바람직하게는 약 34 내지 85g/㎡의 범위내의 비교적 무거운 기본 중량을 갖게 된다. 반면에, 다른 연속 필라멘트사층은 약 7 내지 34g/㎡범위, 바람직하게는 10 내지 17g/㎡ 범위내의 비교적 경량의 기본 중량을 갖게 된다.
이온성 및 비이온성의 어떤 종류의 계면활성제라도 각기 성분층에 사용될 수 있다. 이러한 계면활성제의 예를 들자면, 술포숙신산나트륨의 디옥틸에스테르(Aeros이 OT), 이소옥틸 펜틸폴리에톡시 에탄올(TritonX-100 및 X-102)등이 있다.
성분 직물들의 결합은 문양을 넣는 가열 및 가압에 의해 바람직하게 성취된다. 특별한 결합 조건은 특정물질에 따라 다르나, 일반적으로 표면적의 약 5 내지 25%, 바람직하게는 10 내지 15%까지 도달되도록 약 10 내지 250pins/in2, 더욱 바람직하게는 10 내지 110결합수/in2를 제공하는 결합 형태를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다. 예를 들면, 폴리프로필렌의 결합 온도는 약 180°내지 330℉(82.2°내지 166℃)의 범위가 바람직하며, 압력은 약 150pli 내지 약 400pli의 범위가 바람직하다. 1976년 4월 13일자 보그트의 미합중국 의장등록 제239,566호 및 1974년 11월 17일자 한센(Hansen) 및 펜닝스(Pennings)의 미합중국 특허 제3,855,046호에 기재된 결합형태를 참고할 수 있다.
제1도를 보면, 본 발명의 걸레 제품을 제조하는 공정이 요약 설명되어 있다. 유용한 다른 제조 및 결합조작법은 이 분야에 숙련된 자들에게 명백하게 될 것이며, 본 발명은 이 특별히 설명된 조작법에만 한정되는 것은 아니다.
도시한 바와 같이, 용융증융 다이(10)은 로울러(16)에 의해 지지되는 구동 와이어(14) 위의 미세 섬유(12)의 상부에 위치한다. 성긴 타면(打綿)(18)을 형성시키고, 여기에 분무 노즐(22)에 의해 습윤제(20)를 첨가한다. 주동 로울러(23 및 25)의 각각으로부터의 방사 결합된 연속 필라멘트사 직물(24) 및 (26)의 니프(3l)에서 타면 (18)과 함께 종동 로울러(27)과 (29)를 경유하여 결합된다. 이 결합은 문양(紋樣)이 형성된 로울러(33)과 앤빌(anvil)로울러(35)사이의 문양 압착 니프(30)에서 가열 및 가압하여 이루어지며, 적층물(37)은 예컨대 제2도에 도시한 각개 걸레층 성분으로 종절(縱切)시킬 수 있는 주동 로울러(32)에 감긴다. 제2도를 보면, 미세 섬유층(38)과 문양 결합부(42)를 갖는 연속 필라멘트사층(36, 40)을 포함하는 세겹의 적층 걸레(34)가 도시되어 있다.
본 발명은 구체적인 실예를 보여주는 특정의 실시예에 의하여 설명하고자 한다.
[실시예 1]
다음과 같이 분틴과 그의 공동 발명자의 미합중국 특허 제3,798,185호에 기재된 방법에 따라 기본 중량이 54g/㎡인 용융증융시킨 미세 섬유 직물을 형성시켰다. 즉, 177℃에서 측정시의 용융 지수가 145g이고 엑손피디(Exxon PD) 3145로 확인된 폴리에틸렌 수지를 사용하였다. 생성량은 20,000yd2/hr이었으며, 생성 스크린 상에서 14in(35.5cm)의 거리에서 수집하였다. 용융증융시킨 섬유는 일반적으로 제1도에 설명된 방법으로 형성되는 바와 같은 직물로 되도록 일체화시켰다. 177℃에서 측정된 용융 지수가 10-119인 폴리프로필렌 수지로부터 형성되고 1977년 8월 9일자 브로크 및 미트너의 미합중국 특허 제4,041,203호에 의해 제조된 엑손 PD 3045로 확인된 연속 필라멘트사 직물을 용융증융시킨 직물의 양쪽면에 도착(途着)시키고, 온도290℉(143℃) 및 압력 220pli에서, 각 핀의 평균 면적이 0.0028in2(0.018㎠)인 47pins/in2의 결합 문양을가진 일반적으로 1982년 5월 18일자 미합중국 의장 등록 제264,512호에 설명된 문양을 사용하여 문양 결합시켰다. 이 결합은 80g/㎡의 기본 중량 및 다음의 표에 설명된 바와 같은 다른 성질을 갖는다.
[실시예 2]
용융증융시킨 직물이 첨가된 목질 펄프 섬유를 50중량% 함유하는 것을 제외하고는, 1978년 7월 11일자 안데르손, 소클로보스키 및 오스테르메이어의 미합중국 특허 제4,100,324호에 기재된 방법으로 실시예 1을 반복 실시하였다. 그 결합물은 86g/㎡의 용융증융시킨 목질 펄프 및 12g/㎡의 방사 결합된 폴리프로필렌을 함유하는 기본 중량이 110g/㎡이었다
[실시예 3]
용융증융시킨 직물에 폴리에스테르 스테이플 섬유를 50중량% 함유하도록 첨가하는 것을 제외하고는, 1978년 7월 11일자 안데르손, 소콜로보스키 및 오스테르메이어의 미합중국 특허 제4,100,324호에 기재된 방법으로 실시예 1을 반복 실시하였다. 그 결합물은 86g/㎡의 용융증융시킨 스테이플 및 12g/㎡의 방사 결합 폴리프로필렌을 함유하는, 기본 중량이 110g/㎡이었다
실시예 1-3의 물질에 대한 시험을 아래 표에 지시된 대로 실시하고, 1981년 11월 22일자 에이트너의 미합중국 특허 제4,307,143호 및 1977년 8월 9일자 브로크 및 베이트너의 미합중국 특허 제4,041,203호의 시료들의 시험 결과와 비교하였다. 종전의 시료 중 하나는 세겹 적층물이고, 다른 하나는 두겹 적층물이었다.

전술한 바와 같이, 본 발명의 걸레는 기름 걸레 및 물걸레의 개선된 특성을 가지며, 특히 흡습도 및 줄무늬 형성이 현상없는 특색이 있다. 이러한 결과는 식기용 행주의 용도로 특히 유용한데, 예를 들면 줄무늬를 생성시키는 일이 없이 스테인레스 스티일 표면을 닦는데 매우 좋다. 더우기, 보푸라기 생성량이 적은 특성때문에, 먼지가 없는 환경이 요구되는 전자 및 다른 용도에 중요하다. 양호한 걸레 제품의 또 다른 용도는 외과 의사용 손수건 등의 건강 위생상 주의를 요하는 것들에도 그 용도가 있다는 것은 분명한 사실이다.
본 발명은 어떠한 원리에도 한정하려는 것은 아니지만, 경량의 연속 필라멘트사 외부 직물은 흡습도가 높은 미세 섬유층을 통해 액체를 빨리 빨아들이는 모세관작용을 제공한다. 이때 이 미세 섬유층은 자체의 틈사이로 액체를 강렬하게 빨아들이며 불균일한 흡습을 방지한다.
그러므로, 본 발명에 의하면, 전술한 목적과 효과를 완전히 만족시키는 걸레 제품이 제공된다는 사실이 분명하여 진다.
본 발명이 그의 구체적인 실예와 관련하여 설명되어 있지만, 다수의 변형예, 수정예 및 변경예 들이, 전술한 설명의 관점에서 볼때, 이 분야에 숙련된 자들에게 당연한 것으로 될 것이다. 따라서, 이러한 모든 변형예, 수정예 및 변경예들은 첨부된 특허청구범위의 정신과 광범위한 범위내에 포함될 것이다.
Claims (9)
- 평균 직경이 최대 약 10μ이고 계면활성제로 처리시킨 용융증융된 열가소성 미세 섬유로 이루어진 기본 중량이 약 17 내지 170g/㎡인 직물과, 이 직물의 양면에 다시 평균 직경이 최대 약 10μ 이상이고 계면활성제로 처리 시킨 일반적으로 열가소성 연속 필라멘트사로 이루어진 기본 중량이 약 7 내지 34g/㎡인 직물을 포함하는 적층물로 구성된 것이 특징인 걸레.
- 제1항에 있어서, 미세 섬유 직물과 결합된 외부 직물의 비율이 중량비로 약 2 : 1 내지 4 : 1이상인 것이 특징인 걸레.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 미세 섬유 직물 및 외부 직물이 폴리프로필렌으로 구성된 것이 특징인 걸레.
- 제3항에 있어서, 용융증융(容融蒸絨)시킨 직물층 처리 계면활성제는 이온성 및 비이온성 계면활성제로 구성되는 군에서 선정되고, 연속 필라멘트사 직물층 처리 계면활성제는 이온성 및 비이온성 계면활성제로 구성되는 군에서 선정됨을 특징으로 하는 걸레.
- 제3항에 있어서, 적층물을 문양을 새기는 가열법 및 가압법으로 결합시키는 것이 특징인 걸레.
- 제5항에 있어서, 결합 형태는 적층물 표면의 약 5 내지 25%를 차지하며 결합수는 약 10 내지 250pins/in2의 범위내 임이 특징인 걸레.
- 제1항에 있어서, 미세 섬유층은 약 70% 이내의 목질 펄프를 포함하는 것이 특징인 걸레.
- 제1항에 있어서, 미세 섬유층은 약 70% 이내의 스테이플 섬유를 포함하는 것이 특징인 걸레.
