Abstract

TFT 기판 및 대향 전극기판은 각자 대향되는 관계로 배치되는데, 스페이서는 기판간의 간격을 유지하기 위해 위치하며, 액정은 기판들 사이에 충전된다. 기판 상의 배향막은 상이한 방향으로 배향되어서 화소를 분할한다. 광 차단막은 배향 부할선 상에 제공된다. 스페이서의 표면은 액정이 스페이서의 표면에 수직으로 배향되거나 기판에 평행하게 배향되는 배향 처리에 의해 처리된다.

Claims (3)

  1. 액정의 배향 방향이 상이한 다수의 영역으로 각각 분할된 화소를 다수개 갖고 있고, 상기 화소를 구성하는 전극이 상부에 형성되어 있는 1쌍의 투명 기판은 고정된 상기 투명 기판들 사이의 간극을 유지하기 위해 그 사이에 스페이서가 삽입되어 있고, 상기 간극을 액정이 채우고 있는 상태에서 서로 대향되게 배치되어 있는 배향 분할형의 액정 표시 장치에 있어서, 상기 스페이서 표면은 상기 액정이 상기 스페이서 표면에 수직으로 또는 상기 투명 기판에 평행하게 배향되는 배향 처리에 의해 처리되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 스페이서는 원통형이며, 상기 배향 처리는 상기 스페이서의 원통면 상에 축방향의 홈을 제공하는 처리인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 광 차단 기능을 가진 막은 화소의 배향 방향이 각자 상이한 영역들 사이의 경계선의 상부 혹은 하부에 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
