Abstract

[목적] 시야각 의존성을 억제하고, 표시품위를 향상시킨다.
[구성] 한쪽 기판(16)에 형성된 복수개의 평행한 선상전극부(18)를 가진 제1전극(22)과, 그 각 선상전극부간에 배치된 복수개의 평행한 선상전극부를 가진 제2전극(28)과, 스위칭소자(30)를 가지고, 배향막의 프레틸트각이 3° 이하이고, 배향막의 배향방향()과, 선성전극부의 세로방향이 평행하고, 전극간격(G)과, 양기판의 간격(D)이 다음식을 만족한다.
0.5≤G/D≤3.0
[효과] 전계의 변화에 의하여 액정을 기립시키거나 또는 가로눕히는 것이 아니기 때문에 액정의 긴축방향과 짧은 축방향의 굴절율의 차이에 의한 투과율의 저하가 발생하기 어렵게 되고, 시야각 의존성이 억제되어 표시품위가 향상한다.

Claims (2)

  1. 평광판을 구비하며, 상면에 배향막이 형성된 제1기판과, 상기 제1기판에 대향하여 배치되며 제1기판측에 배향막이 형성된 제2기판과, 제1기판과 제2기판 사이에 배치된 기랄제가 첨가된 네마틱액정으로 이루어지는 액정층과, 상기 제1기판에형성된 복수개의 평행한 선상전극부와 이 선상전극부끼리를 접속한 기부로 이루어지는 제1전극과, 상기 제1전극의 각 선상전극부간에 배치된 복수개의 평행한 선상전극부와 이 선상전극부끼리를 접속한 기부로 이루어지는 제2전극과, 상기 제1전극과 상기 제2전극간에 전압을 인가하는 스위칭소자를 포함하고, 상기 배향막의 프레틸트각은 3°이하이고, 상기 제1기판에 형성된 배향막의 배향방향과 상기 선상전극부의 세로방향은 거의 평행하고, 상기 제1전극의 선상전극부와 이것에 인접한 제2전극의 선상전극부의 간격(G)과 제1기판과 제2기판의 간격(D)은 0.5≤G/D≤3.0을 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 스위칭소자가 박막트랜지스터인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
