Claims (12)

  1. (1) 수소; (2) 일산화탄소; (3) (a)유리 또는 결합형의 몰리브덴, 텅스텐, 또는 이의 혼합물의 제1성분 및 (b)유리 또는 결합형의 알칼리 또는 알칼리토 원소, 또는 이의 혼합물의 제2성분을 함유하는 불균일질 촉매; 및 (4) 1종 이상의 저급 알코올을 반응시킴을 특징으로 하는 생성 알코올중의 탄소원자수가 출발 알코올중의 탄소원자수와 비교하여 증가하는 조건하에서의 고급 알코올의 제조방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 촉매가 유리 또는 결합형의 코발트, 니켈 또는 철, 또는 이의 혼합물의 제3성분을 갖는 방법.
  3. 제1 또는 2항에 있어서, 촉매가 지지체인 추가성분을 갖는 방법.
  4. 제1,2 또는 3항에 있어서, 촉매중의 제1성분이 몰리브덴인 방법.
  5. 제2항에 있어서, 촉매가 몰리브덴 술피드 및 코발트 술피드를 함유하는 방법.
  6. 제1,2 또는 3항에 있어서, 제4반응물이 메탄올 함유하는 방법.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 제4반응물이 메탄올 및 고급알코올을 함유하는 혼합 알코올 생성물을 분별 증류시켜 수득된 메탄올을 함유하는 방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 수소 및 일산화탄소가 약 0.7:1 내지 약 3:1의 몰비로 존재하는 방법.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 반응을 약 200°내지 약 400℃의 온도에서 수행하는 방법.
  10. 제1항에 있어서, 반응을 약 500psig(3.55MPa)내지 약 10,000psig(69.1MPa)의 압력하에서 수행하는 방법.
  11. 제1항에 있어서, 제4반응물 알코올의 적어도 25중량%를 고급알코올로 전환시키는 방법.
  12. 제1 내지 11항중 어느 한항에 있어서, 메탄올을 에탄올 및 다른 고급 알코올로 전환시키는 방법.
