CONSISTE EN LA REACCION DE UNA MEZCLA DE HIDROGENO, MONOXIDO DE CARBONO Y FORALDEHIDO, EN UN DISOLVENTE HIDROCARBONADO OXIGENADO INERTE A UNA PRESION NO INFERIOR A 35 BARIAS, EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR QUE CONTIENE UN COMPUESTO DE COBALTO Y DE UN COMPUESTO DE ESTAÑO O DE GERMANIO COMO PROMOTOR DEL CATALIZADOR. EL ETILENGLICOL TIENE APLICACIONES COMO ANTICONGELANTE, REFRIGERANTE, DISOLVENTE, COMO MONOMERO PARA LA PRODUCCION DE POLIESTERES Y COMO INTERMEDIO EN LA FABRICACION DE PRODUCTOS QUIMICOS.
