Abstract

본 발명의 이것 및 다른 목적들은 본 발명의 원리들에 따라 미디어 분배에 있어서의 시각 변동을 판정할 수 있는 미디어 녹화 시스템을 제공함으로써 달성된다. 미디어 배급업자가 바꾼 시각 변동을 추적하여 예정된 시작 및/또는 종료 시각으로부터 미디어 이벤트의 시작 시각의 지연 및/또는 종료 시각의 연장을 행할 수 있는, 저장 장치를 갖는 대화형 프로그램 안내 시스템, PVR 시스템, 지능형 VCR, 임의의 다른 적당한 시스템 또는 이들의 조합과 같은 미디어 녹화 시스템이제공된다.

또다른 실시예에서, 한번에 하나의 프로그램만을 녹화할 수 있는 녹화 시스템에서 2개의 인접한 녹화가 검출되는 경우, 제1 인접한 프로그램에 우선권을 줄 수 있다. 프로그램 안내는 제1 프로그램의 끝부분을 유지시키기 위해 2개의 인접 프로그램 중 제2 프로그램을 자동적으로 조절할 수 있다. 이러한 것은 프로그램의 끝부분, 즉 결론 부분이 없어지는 것보다 오히려 프로그램의 시작 부분이 없어지는 것이 낫다고 생각하는 사용자들이 선호할 수 있다.
시각 변동 정보를 이용하지 못할 수도 있다. 녹화하기 위해 선택된 프로그램에 대한 시각 변동 정보를 이용할 수 없는 경우, 도 11c의 표시 화면(1175)에 나타낸 바와 같이, 녹화 관련 정보 영역(1104)은 지연 영역(1180)에 "지연 정보 없음"을 게시하고, 연장 영역(1182)에 "연장 정보 없음"을 게시할 수 있다. 그렇지만, 녹화하기 위해 선택된 프로그램에 대한 시각 지연 및/또는 연장 정보를 이용할 수 있는 경우, 사용자는 시각 변동을 보상하기 위해 녹화 시작 및 종료 시각을 조정하기로 선택할 수 있다. 도 11a 내지 도 11c는 사용자에게 녹화 기본 설정 옵션(1106)을 제공한다. 녹화 기본 설정 기능(1106)은 사용자에게 예측된 또는 실제의 시각 변동을 보상하기 위해 녹화 시각을 조정할 기회를 제공할 수 있다. 도 12a 및 도 12b는 각각 예시적인 표시 화면(1200, 1250)을 나타낸 것으로서, 옵션(1106)이 선택되었을 때 사용자에게 제공될 수 있는 기능들을 나타낸 도면이다.

Claims (56)

  1. 녹화 시스템에서 프로그램을 녹화할 때 잘려나감(cut-off)을 감소시키기 위해 사용하는 방법으로서,
    예정된 프로그램에 관한 시각 변동 정보를 제공하는 단계, 및
    상기 시각 변동 정보에 기초하여 시각 변동을 보상하도록 상기 프로그램을 녹화하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 녹화 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 시각 변동 정보는 시각 지연 정보를 포함하는 것인 녹화 방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 시각 지연 정보는 실제 시각 지연인 것인 녹화 방법.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 시각 지연 정보는 예측된 시각 지연인 것인 녹화 방법.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 예측된 시각 지연은 이전에 로그된 시각 변동에 기초한 것인 녹화 방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 시각 변동 정보를 제공하는 단계는 상기 프로그램에대한 시각 지연 정보를 표시하는 단계를 포함하는 것인 녹화 방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 시각 변동 정보는 시각 연장 정보를 포함하는 것인 녹화 방법.
  8. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 시각 연장 정보는 실제 시각 연장인 것인 녹화 방법.
  9. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 시각 연장 정보는 예측된 시각 연장인 것인 녹화 방법.

  18. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램에 관련된 데이터 스트림을 모니터링하는 단계를 더 포함하는 녹화 방법.
  19. 제18항에 있어서, 상기 데이터 스트림을 상기 프로그램용으로 분배되는 프로그램 데이터 스트림으로 제공하는 단계를 더 포함하는 녹화 방법.
  20. 제19항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램이 언제 시작되는지를 나타내기 위해 상기 프로그램 데이터 스트림 중에 큐를 제공하는 단계를 더 포함하는 녹화 방법.

  24. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 프로그램에 대한 프로그램 목록 중에 시각 변동 정보가 존재한다는 것을 나타내는 아이콘을 표시하는 단계를 더 포함하는 녹화 방법.

  27. 제26항에 있어서, 상기 녹화 시간을 조정하는 단계는 상기 예정된 프로그램 및 상기 인접한 프로그램에 대한 시각 변동 정보의 신뢰도에 기초하여 조정하는 단계를 포함하는 것인 녹화 방법.
  28. 제27항에 있어서, 상기 조정하는 단계는 상기 예정된 프로그램에 대한 시각 변동 정보의 신뢰도가 상기 인접한 프로그램에 대한 신뢰도보다 낮을 경우, 상기 예정된 프로그램의 시각 변동된 녹화 시각을 조정하는 단계를 포함하는 것인 녹화 방법.
  29. 프로그램을 녹화할 때 잘려나감(cut-off)을 감소시키는 녹화 시스템으로서,
    예정된 프로그램에 관한 시각 변동 정보를 수신하도록 구성된 제어 회로, 및
    상기 제어 회로에 응답하여, 상기 시각 변동 정보에 기초하여 시각 변동을 보상하도록 상기 프로그램을 녹화하게 구성된 미디어 녹화 장치를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 녹화 시스템.
  30. 제29항에 있어서, 상기 시각 변동 정보는 시각 지연 정보를 포함하는 것인 녹화 시스템.
  31. 제30항에 있어서, 상기 시각 지연 정보는 실제 시각 지연인 것인 녹화 시스템.
  32. 제30항에 있어서, 상기 시각 지연 정보는 예측된 시각 지연인 것인 녹화 시스템.
  33. 제32항에 있어서, 상기 예측된 시각 지연은 이전에 로그된 시각 변동에 기초한 것인 녹화 시스템.
