Claims (24)
- 광학 요소(optical element)로서,
제1 기판;
상기 제1 기판 상에 증착된 적어도 하나의 박막층; 및
상기 기판과 상기 적어도 하나의 박막층 중 임의의 두 개에 의해 형성되는 경계에 접하는(adjoin) 경계-변경 물질(boundary-modifying material)
을 포함하고,
상기 경계-변경 물질은 상기 기판 및 상기 적어도 하나의 박막층을 형성하는 물질들과 상이하고, 상기 경계-변경 물질의 누적은 10개의 원자층을 초과하지 않으며, 상기 경계-변경 물질은 칼코게나이드(chalcogenide)들 및 프닉토겐(pnictogen)들로 이루어지는 그룹으로부터의 성분을 포함하는
광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 경계-변경 물질은 황(sulfur) 및 셀레늄(selenium) 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 경계-변경 물질의 누적은 단원자층(atomic monolayer)을 초과하지 않는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 경계-변경 물질의 누적은 5개의 원자층을 초과하지 않는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 경계-변경 물질의 누적은 2개의 원자층을 초과하지 않는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 제1 기판은 유리를 포함하는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 적어도 하나의 박막층은 ITO, IZO, 아연 산화물(zinc oxide), AZO, TiO2, W, Mo, Fe, Ni, Co, Rh, Ir, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, Hg, Ga, In, Tl, Ge, Sn, Pb, As, Sb, Cr 및 Bi 중 하나를 포함하는 광학 요소. - 광학 요소를 제조하기 위한 방법으로서,
표면을 갖는 제1 베이스를 제공하는 단계;
상기 표면 아래에 변경 물질을 배치(dispose)하는 단계; 및
박막 오버층(thin-film overlayer)으로 상기 표면을 오버코팅하는 단계

상기 변경 물질의 누적은 단원자층을 초과하지 않는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제8항에 있어서,
상기 변경 물질의 누적은 5개의 원자층을 초과하지 않는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제8항에 있어서,
상기 변경 물질의 누적은 2개의 원자층을 초과하지 않는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제8항에 있어서,
상기 제1 베이스는, 제1 기판 및 그 위에 증착된 제1 박막층을 포함하고,
상기 제1 베이스의 표면은 상기 제1 박막층의 바깥쪽 표면에 의해 정의되는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제13항에 있어서,
상기 제1 기판은 유리로 만들어지고,
상기 제1 박막층과 상기 박막 오버층 중 적어도 하나는 ITO, IZO, 아연 산화물, AZO, TiO2, W, Mo, Fe, Ni, Co, Rh, Ir, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, Hg, Ga, In, Tl, Ge, Sn, Pb, As, Sb 및 Bi 중 적어도 하나를 함유하는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제8항에 있어서,
상기 제1 베이스는 유리로 만들어지고,

상기 제1 기판은 유리로 만들어지고,
상기 적어도 하나의 박막층은, 상기 제1 기판 상에 증착된 TiO2층, 상기 TiO2층의 상단(top) 상에 증착된 ITO층, 및 상기 ITO층 위에 증착된 은-금 합금층을 포함하며,
상기 경계-변경 물질은 상기 ITO층과 상기 은-금 합금층 사이의 경계에서 누적되는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 경계-변경 물질은 상기 적어도 하나의 박막층의 접착성(adhesion), 환경 안정성(environmental stability), 도전성(conductivity) 및 핵형성(nucleation) 특성들 중 적어도 하나를 향상시키는 광학 요소. - 제1항에 있어서,
제2 기판 - 상기 제1 및 제2 기판들은 협동하여(cooperate) 그들 사이에 캐비티(cavity)를 형성함 -; 및
상기 캐비티 내에 로케이팅된 전기 변색 매질(electrochromic medium)
을 더 포함하는 광학 요소. - 제8항에 있어서,
상기 배치하는 단계는 이온 처리(ion treatment), 플라즈마 처리, 화학적 처리 및 물리 기상 증착(physical vapor deposition) 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제8항에 있어서,
제2 베이스를 위치시켜 상기 제1 베이스와 상기 제2 베이스 사이에 캐비티를 형성하는 단계를 더 포함하는 광학 요소 제조 방법. - 제16항에 있어서,
