Description
前記ジルコニア結晶粒子は、正方晶の結晶粒子を含み、
前記焼結体の任意の切断面の10μm角の範囲における前記ジルコニア結晶粒子の総数をN個とし、
前記N個の前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のうちの、周囲が前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のみに囲まれた第1のジルコニア結晶粒子の個数a個の前記N個に対する割合をAとし、
前記N個の前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のうちの、周囲が前記アルミナ結晶粒子のみに囲まれた第2のジルコニア結晶粒子の個数b個の前記N個に対する割合をBとし、
前記N個の前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のうちの、周囲が前記ジルコニア結晶粒子と前記アルミナ結晶粒子とに囲まれた第3のジルコニア結晶粒子の個数c個の前記N個に対する割合をCとしたとき、
0%≦A≦3%、かつ、3%≦B≦22%、かつ、77%≦C≦96%を満たし、
前記Nは、値140以上であることを特徴とする焼結体。
[適用例4]適用例1ないし適用例3のいずれかに記載の焼結体を使用したことを特徴とする切削工具。
[適用例5]鋼加工に用いられる適用例4記載の切削工具。
[適用例6]ダクタイル鋳鉄加工に用いられる適用例4記載の切削工具。
本発明の実施形態について説明する。本発明の焼結体の実施例としての焼結体SCを材料として用いて製造した切削工具としてのチップ20の外観を図1に示す。チップ20は、スローアウェイチップ、すなわち、切削インサートである。このチップ20は、切削工具の本体に着脱可能に装着される。図1に示すように、チップ20は、略直方体の外形を備えている。図示するチップ20の形状は、ISO規格で規定されたSNGN433−TNの形状に該当する。ただし、チップ20の形状は、適宜設定すればよい。

上述したチップ20の製造方法の具体例について説明する。チップ20の製造手順を図5に示す。図示するように、チップ20の製造においては、まず、材料としてのスラリーを作製する(ステップS110)。具体的には、平均粒径が0.6μmのアルミナ粉末と、平均粒径が0.7μmであり、2mol%のY2O3を含むジルコニア粉末とを、アルミナ球石および水とともにアルミナ製のポットに投入し、84時間混合して粉砕し、スラリーを作製する。
上述したチップ20の材料としての焼結体SCは、任意の切断断面における10μm角の範囲において、ジルコニア結晶粒子ZCの総数(N個)に対する第1のジルコニア結晶粒子ZC1の個数(a個)の割合Aが、0%≦A≦3%を満たす。ジルコニア結晶粒子ZCがジルコニア結晶粒子ZC群の内部に存在することで応力誘起変態の効果が増し、耐欠損性を向上することができる。割合Aが3%より大きくなると、ジルコニア結晶粒子ZC同士の凝集が多くなることで、焼結体SCの硬度が低下したり、ジルコニア結晶粒子ZCの粗大粒が発生したりして、焼結体SCの耐摩耗性が低下する恐れがあるが、割合Aを3%以下に制御することにより、応力誘起変態効果と粒子脱落抑制の効果が両立し、耐欠損性、耐摩耗性が向上する。

Claims (6)
- アルミナ結晶粒子と、ジルコニア結晶粒子とを主成分とする焼結体であって、
前記ジルコニア結晶粒子は、正方晶の結晶粒子を含み、
前記焼結体の任意の切断面の10μm角の範囲における前記ジルコニア結晶粒子の総数をN個とし、
前記N個の前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のうちの、周囲が前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のみに囲まれた第1のジルコニア結晶粒子の個数a個の前記N個に対する割合をAとし、
前記N個の前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のうちの、周囲が前記アルミナ結晶粒子のみに囲まれた第2のジルコニア結晶粒子の個数b個の前記N個に対する割合をBとし、
前記N個の前記ジルコニア結晶粒子のうちの、周囲が前記ジルコニア結晶粒子と前記アルミナ結晶粒子とに囲まれた第3のジルコニア結晶粒子の個数c個の前記N個に対する割合をCとしたとき、
0%≦A≦3%、かつ、3%≦B≦22%、かつ、77%≦C≦96%を満たし、
前記Nは、値140以上であることを特徴とする焼結体。 - 前記焼結体の任意の5以上の切断面の各々での10μm角の範囲における、前記ジルコニア結晶粒子と前記アルミナ結晶粒子との界面の平均延べ長さは180μm以上であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の焼結体。
- SiO2の含有量が、0.24Wt%以下である、請求項1または請求項2記載の焼結体。
- 請求項1ないし請求項3のいずれかに記載の焼結体を使用したことを特徴とする切削工具。
- 鋼加工に用いられる請求項4記載の切削工具。
- ダクタイル鋳鉄加工に用いられる請求項4記載の切削工具。
