Abstract
Description
SiC粉末80質量部と、金属Si粉末20質量部とを混合し、これに造孔剤として、澱粉と、発泡樹脂とを加え、更にメチルセルロース、ヒドロキシプロポキシルメチルセルロース、界面活性剤、及び水を添加して、可塑性の坏土(成形用坏土)を作製した。この坏土を上述したハニカム構造体成形用口金を用いて押出成形し、マイクロ波及び熱風で乾燥してセル密度が約46.5セル/cm2(300セル/平方インチ)、断面が一辺35mmの正四角形、長さが152mmのハニカム成形体を得た。ハニカム成形体のセル構造は、図2A〜図2Cに示されるような、中心軸に垂直な断面が大きいセルと、中心軸に垂直な断面が小さいセルとが交互に並んだ構造とした。
ハニカム構造体(セグメント)の両端面に、材質が熱収縮ポリエステルの透明テープに、粘着剤としてアクリル系接着剤を塗工して形成された透明な粘着テープを貼り付ける操作を行った。透明テープの厚さを50μmとし、アクリル系接着剤の厚さを40μmとした。
得られた、一方の端面と他方の端面とでセル開口部の大きさが異なる目封止ハニカム構造体を、コンベアにより搬送し、片側の端面が撮像装置側を向くように配置した。撮像装置としては、VGAカメラを用い、コンベアの進行方向に対して垂直な方向から撮像するようにした。そして、目封止ハニカム構造体の片側の端面を、光を照射しながら撮像して、撮像された端面の構造が予め設定された一方の端面の構造と同じであるか否かを確認した。光の照射は、目封止ハニカム構造体の中心軸に対して73°の角度から行った。予め設定しておく一方の端面の構造を流入端面の構造とし、予め設定された一方の端面に開口する目封止されていないセル一つ分の面積を含み、他方の端面に開口する目封止されていないセル一つ分の面積を含まないように、検出するセル一つ分の面積に範囲を設定した。設定された一方の端面を撮像して得られた処理用画像を画像処理することにより、上記設定されたセル一つ分の面積範囲に含まれる目封止されていないセルを認識し、認識された目封止されていないセルの個数からその面積を算出した。そして、配置した向きを確認する目封止ハニカム構造体の片側の端面を撮像して得られた処理用画像を画像処理することにより、上記設定されたセル一つ分の面積範囲に含まれる目封止されていないセルを認識し、認識された目封止されていないセルの個数からその面積を算出した。そして、算出された面積が、予め設定された一方の端面の目封止されていないセルの全面積と同じであるかを確認した。
流入端面の向きが逆向きになっている目封止ハニカム構造体(セグメント)を有さないハニカムセグメント接合体を合格とした。
Claims (2)
- 一方の端面と他方の端面とでセル開口部の大きさが異なる目封止ハニカム構造体を、片側の端面が撮像装置側を向くように配置し、前記片側の端面を、光を照射しながら撮像して、撮像された端面の構造が予め設定された前記一方の端面の構造と同じであるか否かを確認する操作を、複数の前記目封止ハニカム構造体について行い、
確認された前記端面の構造に基づき、前記複数の目封止ハニカム構造体を、前記一方の端面が同じ方向を向くようにして、それぞれの側面同士で接合する目封止ハニカム構造体の接合方法。 - 前記撮像された端面の構造が、予め設定された前記一方の端面の構造とは異なる場合には、前記目封止ハニカム構造体の端面の向きを反対にして、前記目封止ハニカム構造体を接合する操作を行い、前記撮像された端面の構造が、予め設定された前記一方の端面の構造と同じ場合には、そのままの向きで前記目封止ハニカム構造体を接合する操作を行う請求項1に記載の目封止ハニカム構造体の接合方法。
