Description
SiC粉末80質量部と、金属Si粉末20質量部とを混合し、これに造孔剤として、澱粉と、発泡樹脂とを加え、更にメチルセルロース、ヒドロキシプロポキシルメチルセルロース、界面活性剤、及び水を添加して、可塑性の坏土(成形用坏土)を作製した。この坏土をハニカム構造体成形用口金を用いて押出成形し、マイクロ波及び熱風で乾燥してセル密度が約46.5セル/cm2(300セル/平方インチ)、断面が一辺35mmの正四角形、長さが152mmのハニカム成形体を得た。このハニカム成形体を、端面が市松模様状を呈するように、セルの両端面を目封止して目封止ハニカム成形体を得た。すなわち、隣接するセルが、互いに反対側の端部で封じられるように目封止を行った。目封止材としては、ハニカム成形体の原料と同様のものを用いた。次に、大気雰囲気にて約400℃で脱脂し、その後、Ar不活性雰囲気にて約1450℃で焼成して、SiC結晶粒子をSiで結合させた、多孔質構造を有するハニカムセグメント(ハニカム構造体)を得た。
ハニカム構造体(セグメント)の端面に、材質熱収縮ポリエステルの透明テープ(基材)に、粘着剤としてアクリル系接着剤を塗工して形成された透明な粘着テープを貼り付ける操作を行った。マスクテープとしては、基材厚さ40μm、接着剤厚さ50μm(合計厚さ90μm)のものを用いた。
上記マスクテープを貼り付ける工程を経たハニカム構造体(セグメント)の端面に、図1に示すように、第1照射光11を照射しながら、端面6全体を撮像装置5により正面から撮像して第1の処理用画像を得た。第1照射光11とハニカム構造体1の中心軸aとの間の角度は73°とした。撮像装置5は、ハニカム構造体の中心軸の延長上に配置した。第1照射光11を照射する照明としては、バー照明を使用し、撮像装置5としては、VGAカメラを使用した。
上記方法により、ハニカム構造体(セグメント)を59868本作製し、それぞれのハニカム構造体について、マスクテープの貼り付け工程における操作を行い、実施例1のハニカム構造体端面のマスク不良検出を行った。結果として、59868本のハニカム構造体中、18本(0.03%)にマスク不良が確認された。実施例1のハニカム構造体端面のマスク不良検出は、目視で観察しながらハニカム構造体端面のマスク不良検出を行う場合より、早く、正確にマスク不良検出を行うことができた。
Claims (2)
- 端面に透明なマスクテープを貼り付ける工程を経たハニカム構造体の前記端面に、ハニカム構造体の中心軸との間に形成される角度が45°以上となる光(第1照射光)を照射しながら、前記端面全体を前記端面の正面から撮像して第1の処理用画像を得て、
前記第1の処理用画像を得た後、前記端面に、ハニカム構造体の中心軸との間に形成される角度が5°以下となる光(第2照射光)を照射しながら、前記端面全体を前記端面の正面から撮像して第2の処理用画像を得て、
前記第1の処理用画像と前記第2の処理用画像とを用い、前記端面全体の面積に対する、マスクテープが貼り付いていない部分における目封止されていないセルの面積の比率を算出してハニカム構造体の端面のマスク不良を検出するハニカム構造体端面のマスク不良検出方法。 - 前記第1の処理用画像及び前記第2の処理用画像を、前記ハニカム構造体の中心軸の延長上に配置した撮像装置により撮像し、
前記第2照射光を、前記ハニカム構造体の端面の正面に、中心軸がハニカム構造体の中心軸に対して5°以下となるように配置されたリング状照明又はドーム状照明により照射する請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体端面のマスク不良検出方法。
