Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明は、冷凍庫、冷蔵庫内で食物に：佑“蔵するだめ
のノラスチノク製容器用の可撓性のシラスチックＭ蓋に
関するもので、特に、蓋の中央に下方に力を加えること
によって容器の密封位置に配置されるゲラステック製蓋
に関するものである。
〔従来技術及び発明が解決しようとする問題点〕グラス
チック製食物容器の出現で、数多い蓋の構造が内容物を
周囲の空気から締め切るために密封するためのものとし
て提唱されてきた。気密な密封を維持する際に、特に密
閉された容器を冷却する際に、困難な問題が生じてきた
。
米国特許第２，４８７，４００号は開口容器用の可撓性
のプラスチック製カバーを開示し、その蓋は、その容器
の口を越えて整合するための逆Ｕ字形リムを有する、上
端がへこんだ壁部分を有している。
その蓋は、弾性及び可撓性を有し、復元速度の遅い、何
ら音のしない留付けをするタイゾのものとして記載され
ている。この容器にあっては、その上部壁にそりでリム
に徐々に下向きに力を加えることにより、側方溝壁を広
げ、中央壁を伸縮させることにより、容器のリムと容器
のリムの上部及び側壁の内表面との密封係合を行う。ス
ナップばめとならないカバーを得るために非常に高度の
可撓性を有するプラスチック材を使用していることから
、この構造物は、特に冷却を行うような条件下では気密
な密封を行えない。更に、蓋がへこんでいることから、
食物を収納する容量が実質的に減少している。
タラ・”　（Ｔｕｐｐｅｒ　）の再発行特許（米国特許
第２４．８８９号）には、米国特許第２，４８７，４０
０号のものよシも改良されたものが示され、それは矩形
の容器と丸みのある角をもつカッ々−とから成ってい一
゛る。大きな違いは、容器の上端リム上のビードと、そ
のビードと密封点を形成する、力・々−の周囲リムの溝
壁が傾斜付けられた内表面となっている点である。その
カバーは可撓性材料から成り、カッ々−のリムの上部壁
にそって指で圧力を徐々に加るように設計されているも
のである。その構造物は、密封がよくなく、蓋のへこん
だ上部壁のため食物の収納容量が少ないという米国特許
第２，４８７，４００号のものと同じ欠点を持っている
。
リットンの特許（米国特許第３，１１１，２４０号）は
ビードのある容器を示し、そのビードは、第２の密封を
形成すべく周囲リムの溝の内側の傾斜した内表面と共働
する傾斜面を有している。しかし、第１の密封は容器の
リムの滑らかな内表面とカバーの周囲リムの内壁との間
で形成され、またへこんだ蓋は容器の収容量を減少させ
ている。
クロイル特許（米国特許第３，６９２，２０８号）はグ
ラスチック製のカバーを開示しておシ、そのカバーは上
向きの逆Ｕ字形環状リムによって囲まれた下向きの凹状
又は円錐状の中央壁を有している。
そのリムの内壁は、？−ルのリムの内表面とで密封を形
成し、従って、それはタラ・ぐ特許の外側密封と異なる
内側密封である。ボールのリムの外表面とそのリムの外
壁との間は、何ら密封接触がない。カバーの下向き凹状
中央壁は、下方に押しつけられると、そのリムの内壁を
縮めて、それが容器のリム内で通過することを可能にす
る。そのカバー材料は、押し伺けるのをやめると、容器
の内表面と密着接触すべく伸長するという弾性記憶を有
している。しかし、このような力・ぐ−は冷却されると

〔発明の開示〕
本発明の改良蓋は従来技術の差の欠点を解消し、蓋の中
間領域に下向に力を加えることによυゾールの外表面と
スナップばめして密封係合ならしめ、密封の完了を可聴
信号によって知らせる蓋を提供することである。
本発明の他の目的は、ゾールリムの滑らかな外表面とで
密封を行う下方に曲りたリムを持つ上部壁を有するグラ
スチック製材料から成る改良蓋を提供することである。
更に、本発明の他の目的は、復元力のある下方に曲りだ
リム領域を持つ上方に膨張した上部壁を有するゾラスチ
、ツク製材料から成る改良蓋を提供することで、そのグ
ラスチック製材料は、蓋の中間領域が下方に押しつけら
れたとき、リム領域を径方向に伸ばし、が−ルリムの外
表面とスナップばめをして密封係合するのに十分なビー
ム強度を上部壁に与えるものである。
更に、本発明の他の目的は、組立られた？−ルと蓋が冷
却されたときに、密封を強めるようには−ルリムの外表
面と密封係合を行う改良蓋を提供することである。
更に、本発明の他の目的は、デー々の外側リム表面と密
封を形成する蓋で、蓋が前記？−ルと密封係合したとき
に、容器の収納容量を増加すべく上方に膨張する上部壁
を有する蓋を提供することでβる。
更に、本発明の他の目的は、ゾールの外側リム表面と密
封を形成する下方に曲りたリム領域を持つ上方に膨張し
た上部壁を有し、その上部壁は、一杯につまった複数の
ば一ルを積み重ねたときに最下位にあるが−ルの外側リ
ム表面の密封効率を減することなく支持できる十分なビ
ーム強度を有する改良蓋を提供することである。
これら又は他の目的は、改良蓋の構成、及び下方圧力が
ゾール上に置かれた蓋に加えられたときのが−ルリムと
の共働動作によシ成し遂げられ、本発明の好適実施例は
、本発明の最良の態様を例示する例をもって開示されて
いる。構成の細部におけるいろいろな変形及び変更は傷
、許請求の範囲内で成し遂けられ得る。
〔実施例〕
改良蓋は、相当の弾力性及び下向きに曲ったリムの両端
間の直径にわたるスノぞンに実質的なビーム強度を与え
る半剛性プラスチック材で成型されている。好適な材料
としては直鎖低督度、Ｊ？リエチレン（１ｉｎｅａｒ　
ｌｏｗ　ｄｅｎｓｉｔｙ　ｐｏｌｙｅｔｈｙｌｅｎｅ　
（ＬＬＤＰＥ））であるが、同様の物理特性を有する他
の材料を使用してもよい。好適には、その蓋は、それも
予め収縮しておく約１５０？（６５，６°Ｃ）で鋳型内
で成型され、従って皿洗器で取シ扱われるときには最小
の付加的収縮がある。
蓋の適した直径及び高さの寸法、並びに材料の厚さは、
いろいろな大きさの？−ル又は容器と整合するいろいろ
な直径の蓋となるべく多少変化する。従って、８−４イ
ンチ（２０，３−１０，２ｃｒｎ）の蓋に対して、その
厚さは０．０９５−０．０５５インチ（０，２４−０，
１４ｃｍ　）の範囲で変ってもよい。蓋の剛性はリム厚
の４乗の関数である。アーチ状のリムの内表面とぎ一ル
リムの外表面の間で、蓋の中央領域に下向力を加えるこ
とで密封を行うために、そのリムの剛性、湾曲したリム
の高さ、及びリムの両端間のビーム強度（蓋のスノクン
の３乗の関数となるもの）の全ては、蓋がその中央部で
下方に押し付けられたときに、リムに伝えられた力によ
シ実質的にリムの半分がゴールリムにまず位置し、リム
の他の半分が向いあった点の間で徐々に下方に移動し、
最終的に前記点間の中間で可聴のスナッノ音叉はカチッ
という音をもって密封が完了するように、相関関係を有
していなければならない。蓋のリムの内側における密封
面の直径は、ボールリムを乗シ越え、リムの中央に過度
の圧力を加える必要なく密封が完了して可聴のスナップ
音を発するために、ゴールリムの外径よシも僅かに小さ
くなければならない。直径６インチ（１５，２４（７）
）の蓋に対して、その密封表面の直径はぎ一ルリムの外
径よシ約０．０フインチ（０，１８ｃｍ　）小さくなけ
ればならず、この寸法は、以下の通り異なる直径の蓋に
よシ変化する。
８インチ（２０，３Ｃｒｎ）　０．０９０インチ（０，
２３ｃｔｎ）以下フインチ（１７，８ｃｍ）　０．０８
０インチ（０，２０ｃｍ　）Ｊｌ、下６インチ（１５，
２ｍ）　０．０７０インチ（０，１８ｃｒｎ）以下５イ
ンチ（１２，７副）　０．０６０インチ（０，１３ｃｒ
ｎ）以下４インチ（１０，２ｍ）　０．０５０インチ（
０，１０ｃｒｎ）以下第２及び第３図を参照して、改良
蓋は上向に膨みをもち、好適にはげ一ム形をしたもので
、符号１０で一般的に示された、実質的に水平の上部壁
を有するものである。その上部壁は中央圧力領ｊ威を示
す下向きに僅かに湾曲した中央部分１１を有している。
平坦な環状領域１２はその中央部分１１を囲み、好適に
はリムの外側環状部分１３で僅力≧にへこみ、従って、
蓋１０の上端で、第１図に符号１５で示す他の？−ルを
積み重ねるための中央領域が形成されている。
環状部分１３の外周から、その蓋は１６で示す好適に下
方に湾曲し、比較的短い内側フランジ１７及び比較的長
い外側フランジ１８を有する下向きの逆Ｕ字形溝の所ま
で続いている。その外側フランジ１８は外側のフレアス
カート１９に至っている。その溝の内側フランジ１７の
外表面は、第６図によく示されているが、ゴール１５の
上端リム２０の傾斜（好適には７度）と整合するだめに
下方内向に傾斜している。外側フランジ１８の上部分の
内表面は、多小大きな角度（好適には約１２度）で下方
内向に傾斜し、スカートの内表面は、溝の基部で鋭い周
囲肩部２２を形成するために下方外向に傾斜している。
スカート１９の内表面は、好適には前記目的のだめの周
囲を囲むように連続した突起又はビード１９ａを備えて
いる。好適には、ぎ−ル１５は、第７図に示すように蓋
が密封位置にあるときに蓋のスカート１９の僅かに下に
位置する水平の外部補強フランジ２３を有している。
第５図に示すように、蓋がば・−ルの上に位置したとき
、は−ルリム２０の上端は蓋の底部近くのスカート１９
の内表面と係合する。次に、中央領域１１に加えられる
下向力によって、スカートの内表面は第６図に示すよう
にゴールリム２０の上端を越えて下向きに滑シ、肩部２
２が、完全に密封が行われる位置（第７図）で可聴のス
ナップ音を発するぎ−ルリムの上端上に乗るまで、可撓
性フランツ１８がその上方端２４のまわりで外向きに滑
る。前述したように、ゴールリムのほぼ半分は、蓋の中
央に力が加えられたときに、最初に溝の中に位置し、そ
して他の半分は第７図の位置で中間点が可聴のづナッグ
音を発するまで徐々に押し進められ、密封の完了は音に
よって知ることができる。突起又はビード１９ａにより
、蓋が一？−ル上に押し付けられたときに圧縮空気を逃
すことができる。
片手で蓋の中央に通常の力が加えられたときに、蓋が、
その力を径方向外側に伝え、フランツ１８を曲げ、蓋を
は−ルリム上で滑動又はカム動作させ、最終的な密封位
置で可聴のスナップ音を生じさせるのに十分なビーム強
度を有し、力を除去すると、半径内側方向の力がぎ−ル
リムに対して気密な密封をするようにフランツ１８を半
径内側に引きつけるように、蓋の剛性及び湾曲の度合、
並びに外側リムフランジ１８の可撓性及び内径の全てを
関連付けなければならない。内側フランジ１７はゾール
リムの内表面に対して密封をおこなうことに寄与してい
ない。というのは、力を除去したとき、蓋を介して伝え
られた半径内側方向の力はが−ルとの保合締付けを減少
させるからである。
フランジ１７は単に、蓋を最初に位置付けるだめのガイ
ドとして機能するだけである。
明らかに、食物を含むゴールが改良蓋で密封され、冷却
されると、蓋が半径方向に収縮して、よシ気密な密封が
行われる。
第８及び第９図に示すように蓋の変形実施例は第１−７
図の蓋の構造と同様のものであるが、異なる点は、前述
の実施例の内側フランジ１７が除かれ、その化９ｙｖ−
ルリムの上端と係合するだめの外側フランジの上方端の
下に浅い溝又は肩２６を形成する、周囲を囲むビード２
５が設けられている。この変形実施例が、第１−７図に
よって形成される気密性と匹敵できる密封を形成するこ
とがわかった。
〔効果〕
この改良蓋により、片手で中央に力を加えるという便利
さと冷凍庫内でよシ強まる滑らかなぎ−ルリム上におけ
る気密な外側密封とを組み合わせることができ、同時に
、？−ル内の容量全体を利用できる。この新規な構造は
、蓋が所定の位置にスナツグばめされたときにカチツと
いう可聴音を生じさせることから、使用者は密封が完了
したことを音によって知ることができる。

第１図は、滑らかな上方リムを有するゴール上で密封位
置にある改良蓋の一実施例の、一部切り取られた斜視図
である。 第２図は改良蓋の平面図である。 第３図は第２図の３−３線にそった断面図である。 第４図は改良蓋の底面図である。 第５、第６及び第７図は、蓋がその中央で下方に押し付
けられ、密封が完了したときに、蓋とゾールリムとの共
働動作を段階的に示す部分拡大図である。 第８図は、第１−７図の実施例と構造的に同等の、改良
蓋の変形実施例のリム部分の拡大図である。 第９図は、蓋とボールリムとの間で完全に密封逼れてい

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １、容器の上端リムの外表面と気密密封を形成する弾性
    グラスチック製蓋であって、 前記蓋が、その容器のリムを越えて整合するための外側
    リムフランジで終っている下方に曲った周囲を持つ上部
    壁を有し、 前記リムフランジの内径が、前記容器のリムの外径よシ
    も僅かに小さく、 前記上部壁が、その中間部で下方に押しつけられたとき
    に、前記リムフランジを外に曲げ、可聴音を生じて容器
    のリムを越えてスナッグばめをし、押付けをやめると容
    器のリムと気密な密封係合をするために径方向内側に前
    記リムフランツを引き付ける弾性及びビーム強度を有し
    ていることを特徴とする蓋。 ２、特許請求の範囲第１項に記載された蓋であって、 前記蓋の材料が直鎖低密度ポリエチレンであるところの
    蓋。 ３、特許請求の範囲第２項に記載された蓋であって、 前記蓋のリム７ランノが、前記容器のリムの上部と係合
    するための内側肩部を形成するところの蓋。 ４、特許請求の範囲第３項に記載された蓋であって、 前記リムフランジの内径が、それと整合する前記容器の
    リムの外径よシ約０．０５インチ（０，１３ｃｒｎ）か
    ら０．０９インチ（ｏ、ｚ３ｚ）小さいところの蓋。 ５、特許請求の範囲第４項に記載された蓋であって、 前記リムフランツが前記容器のリムを越えて整合するた
    めの溝の一方を形成するところの蓋。 ６、特許請求の範囲第５項に記載された蓋であって、 前記外側リムフランジが外に向うフレアスカ−トで終っ
