Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the reliability of a main storage device and to prevent the reduction in capacity at a normal mode, by dividing a memory bank into 2 sets of the same memory blocks and performing simultaneous readout and write-in at a double write mode. CONSTITUTION:A memory bank is divided into two sets of the same memory blocks 9, 10 connected to check bit generating circuits 7, 8, error correction check circuits 13, 14 and correction circuits 15, 16. At a double write-in mode, simultaneous readout and write-in for the blocks 9, 10 are made and when an error is detected at the circuit 13 or 14, the readout data from the block 10 or 9 in which no error is detected with a readout data selection controlling circuit 17, is selected. On the other hand, at a normal mode, the blocks 9, 10 are used in series, and the reliability of the main storage device can be increased by the double mode and the reduction in the capacity at a normal mode can be avoided.
