Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve an error correcting function by storing one bit each in N units of respective storing means instead of storing a few bits of written data. CONSTITUTION:In a storage device using storage element of (n)-word, (i)-bit constitution, even if one storing means is trouble to cause a multiple-bit fault, it is correctable, so new written data and an error correction code are selected by selecting means 20(0) and 21(0) in writing operation as part of the written data and an error correction code to a storage block 6(0) corresponding to an address storing means 18, and those are selected as the remainder to be written in storage blocks 5(0)-5(4) corresponding to an address storing means 17. In reading operation, on the other hand, they are read corresponding to the address storing means 17 and an error check is made corresponding to readout data and an error correction code selected corresponding to the address storing means 18.
