Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for any flocculant, enhance dehydration chacrcteristic and prevent secondary pollution by residual polymers by integrating respective processes of a biological treatment, a chemical oxidation treatment process, and a sludge treatment process.
CONSTITUTION: Org. waste water 1 is biologically treated in an aerating tank 1, and flows into a settling basin 4, where activated sludge is removed. Overflow water 7 is fed to a chemical oxidation treatment process 8. The overflow water 7 fed into the process 8 is added with iron salt 9 or the like as a metallic ion dissociating material as well as an oxidizing agent 10 and is stirred, whereby COD and colors are removed. The removed reacting liquid flows into a neutralized tank 11, where it is neutralized, and sludge 13 consisting essentially of iron hydroxide is formed. This sludge is settled and separated in a settling basin 14. The separated sludge 17 is fed to an oxidation treatment tank 23, where a mineral acid 24 is added thereto, then the iron oxide in the sludge 17 dissolves to ions. Next, an oxidizing agent 26 is added with in a stirring tank 25, by which dehydration characteristic is improved. The sludge is dehydrated by the next dehydrator 27.
