Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of treatment of the waste water of the pulp mill by using a treated sludge containing regenerated coagulant, obtained by adding an acid liquid to the pulp sludge coagulated and sedimented by an inorganic Al salt, in the coagulation and sedimentation treatment of the waste water of the pulp mill.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water of the pulp mill 1 to be treated is introduced into a mixing tank 2, and the inorganic Al salt coagulant 3 is added to the waste water 1 and its pH is regulated to adsorb organics present in the waste water 1 on the flocs of Al(OH)3. Then, the treated waste water 4 is sent to a clarifier 5 to sediment and separate coagulates and then supernatant liquid 6 is neutralized and discharged. The sludge 7 is stored in a pit 8, and part of the sludge is sent to the acid liquid treatment tank 11 and the rest is dehydrated by a dehydrator 9 and then discarded or incinerated. The sludge 7 sent to a treatment tank 11 is mixed with pulp bleaching chlorate waste water 12 or waste acid 13 and treated at pH of approx. 3.5 or less. And, the Al salt is recovered by regeneration and the mixed liquid 14 containing the recovered Al salt and the sludge treated by acid liquid is mixed with the waste water of the pulp mill 1 for reuse.
