Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat sludge from a purifying tank in a short time and at low cost by a procedure in which the sludge from a purifying tank is treated by preaeration and flocculation then subjected to a forced separation by a centrifugal separator.
CONSTITUTION: The sludge from a purifying tank is treated by preaeration to eqialize and stabilze its behavior, and then the sludge so treated is mixed with a high molecular flocculant and then subjected to a forced separation by a centrifugal separator to separate it into solid and liquid. The liquid separated is introduced into an aeration tank where it is biologically treated by activated sludge to obtain a stable quality of treated water. Thus, it is easy to cope with variations in the amount of sludge delivered and also in the concentration of the sludge. In addition, the consumption of water used can be lessened.
