Abstract

PURPOSE: Waste water sludge which is poorly sedimentary in biological treatment is treated by use of nitrogen gas generated by denitrification, thereby economically effecting floatation and concentration by simple equipment.
CONSTITUTION: Waste water such as sewage containing ammonia is treated by rotary disk or medium such as sand in a biological process 2. The process removes BOD from the waste water 1 and nitrizes ammonia to form nitrogen oxides. The treated waste water is then introduced in the settling equipment 3 from which sludge sediment and liquid mixture 4 is transferred to the mixer 5 to be mixed with branched waste water 6. Here, denitrification produces nitrogen gas, which is used to float and concentrate sludge which is poorly sedimentary in the process of sludge- float-concentrate process 7. Thus, the simple equipment economically concentrate sludge to clean waste water.
