Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat a waste liquid at low cost while reducing the amount of a sludge generated, by a method wherein an organic waste liquid is biologically treated, then a mixed slurry of a residual sludge and treated water is separated and concentrated by using an iron-based flocculant, and the concentrated slurry is mechanically dehydrated after adding a ferrous salt and H2O2.
CONSTITUTION: Raw faces 31 are fed into a biological treating step 32 such as a biological nitrification or denitrification process. In order to maintain a desired concentration of an activated sludge in the step 32, a portion of mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) is fed into a sludge concentrator 33 to separate it into a concentrated sludge 34 and concentration-derived separated water 35, and the sludge 34 is returned to the step 32 while the separated water 35 is mixed into an outflow slurry 36. To the mixed slurry 37 thus formed, the iron-based flocculant 39 and slaked lime 40 are added in a stirring tank 38, and then the mixed slurry 37 is separated into thickening-derived separated water 42 and a thicknened slurry 43 by a thckener 41. The separated water 42 is treated in a COD removing step A to become high-grade treated water 51. On the other hand, the slurry 43 is fed into a mixing tank 44, where FeSO4 45 is added, then H2O2 or O3 46 is added to the slurry in an oxidizing tank 47, and the slurry thus treated is separated into dehydration-derived separated water 49 and a dehydrated cake 50 by a filter press 48. The separated water 49 is then returned to the tank 38.
