Abstract

PURPOSE: To rationalize a high degree treatment of an effluent from a biological disposal process and to extremely reduce COD and color components, by biologically treating organic waste water without being diluted, and then oxidizing excess sludge together with the effluent.

An effluent slurry 6 containing excess sludge flows into a disposal vessel 7, where ferrous sulfate and an oxidizing agent 11 are added to the slurry. Slurry from the vessel 7 is separated into dewatered cake 9 and separated water 10 by a dehydrator 8. The separated water 10 is introduced into another disposal vessel 13, where the water is adjusted at pH 2W4 by a reagent 12 and agitated. An effluent from the vessel 13 is neutralized by an alkali 15 and treated by a solid-liquid separator 17 to separate precipites 16. Thus, purified water 18 is obtained. A mineral acid is added to the precipitates 16, and the precipitates are reused in the disposal vessel 7 or 13.
