Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the titled treatment in which a sludge treating step and a high- grade treatment step are rationalized and resource conservation is contrived, by a method wherein a mineral acid is added to either one or both of a residual sludge generated from a biological treatment and a flocculated sludge generated from a flocculating treatment, and a mixed sludge of both the sludges is dehydrated.
CONSTITUTION: Organic waste water 21 is fed into an aeration tank 22, where it is subjected to a biological treatment, then the sludge is separated at a settling pond 24, and an inorganic flocculant 28 such as aluminum sulfate or ferric chloride is added to the treated water in a flocculator 27. The treated water is then passed through a flocculation precipirating pond 29 to obtain treated water 30. In this case, the residual sludge 31 from the biological treatment step and the flocculated sludge 33 are concentrated by a sludge concentrating step 34 to obtain a concentrated sludge 36, which is fed into an acid treatment tank 37. A mineral acid 38 is added to the sludge 36 in the tank 37, and the acidified sludge is dehydrated as it is by a dehydrator 41 to separate the sludge into a dehydrated cake 42 and dehydration-derived separated water 43. The separated water 43 contains a large amount of Fe2+ or Al3+, so that it is circulated into the flocculator 27.
