Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the settling characteristic of sludge by mixing contact liquid such as industrial waste water or the like with the primary contact mixed sludge or the like contacted and mixed with part of the sludge treated and mixed in an aeration tank and/or part of return sludge and flocculating these.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water 6 is supplied to an aeration 1 where it is sujected to a biological treatment. The sludge 8 treated and mixed in the aeration tank is transferred to a solid-liquid separating tank 2. Part 4 of the settled return sludge and contact liquid 7 are supplied in a contact tank 12, where these are contacted and mixed. In some cases, the contact liquid may be mixed with part of the return sludge before it is put into the tank 12. The primary contact mixed sludge 10 mixed with the sludge 8 flowing out from the aeration tank, and the mixed secondary contact mixed sludge 11 is supplied to a solid-liquid separating tank 2. Thence, supernatant 9 is released, and the sludge settled in the tank 2 is returned with a return pump 3 to return the greater part of the return sludge 4 into the tank 1 and part thereof into the tank 12.
