Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the dehydratability of hard-to-dehydrate sludge such as biological sludge and flocculated and settled sludge by mixing a high polymer flocculating agent and a surfactant to the sludge and subjecting this to a pressure dehydration treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge 7 to be dehydrated is supplied through a sludge supply pipe 3 into an admixing tank 1; at the same time, a high polymer flocculating agent through a pipe 4 and a surfactant 9 are injected therein and these are thoroughly mixed with an agitator 2, by which the sludge is flocculated. The flocculated sludge is supplied through a flocculated sludge discharge pipe 6 into a dehydrator. For example, a cationic high polymer agent is added at 0.66%/SS to 100ml digested sludge (3% sludge concn.) of sewage sludge and a surfactant at 0.05%/SS. As a result, the amt. of gravity filtrate is 63ml upon lapse of one minute, which is the same even after the addition of the surfactant, but the flocculated sludge after the filtration is 90ml when pressurized (0.2kg/cm2G), which is indicative of easier dehydration as compared to 70ml before the addition of the surfactant, thus the dehydratability is improved.
