Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to print with good quality and high speed, by alternately applying lower and higher frequency signals than the cross-over frequency in which dielectric anisotropy is zero at normal temperature, to the common electrode of a liquid crystal display element used for a liquid crystal light bulb. CONSTITUTION:The printer consists of a photo signal generating section providing the light source, liquid crystal light bulb and drive circuit, photo sensing section, development section, and print section. The liquid crystal light bulb consists of the glass substrate 11 having the common electrode 13 and transparent electrode 14, independent signal electrodes 16, and glass substrate 12 having transparent electrodes 15, and nematic construction in which the liquid crystal layer between the substrates 11 and 12 is twisted, is adopted. Further, to the common electrode 13, the signal having lower fe and higher fh frequency than the cross-over frequency fc in which the dielectric anisotropy is zero at normal temperature is alternately fed, to the signal electrode 16, the signal of opposite phase is given when fe and in-phase or opposite phase is given when fh, allowing high speed and good quality printing.
