PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display element which has such unprecedented outside appearance that a character is black though a background is colored and where contrast is improved by using a color reflector in a liquid crystal display device, whose display is recognized without backlight even in the dark place by using light accumulating pigment having a property that the pigment absorbs light and emits the light in the dark place for the color reflector, and where the character looks in bold relief by faint fluorescence and an electronic equipment where the liquid crystal display element is mounted. CONSTITUTION:A pair of substrates 1 is stuck to be opposed through a sealing material 5, and an upper polarizing plate 7 and a lower polarizing plate 8 are disposed on the outsides of the substrates 1. 晶6を真空注入法により充填し、注入部をエポキシ系接
着剤で封止した。この液晶セルを上偏光板7と下偏光板
8で挟み、下偏光板にカラーコーティング層10を施し
た反射板9を設置したものである。カラーコーティング
層は、厚み15μmの圧延アルミ箔の消面へグラビア印
刷により顔料及び染料入り樹脂を一部又は全面にコーテ
ィングしたものにPETフィルム(50μm)を接着し
たものである。前記顔料としては、例えば帝国インキ製
造株式会社製の「セリコールEG蛍光インキ104又は
139」が使用できる。
