Abstract

PURPOSE:To make an imaging device high-speed, high quality, small-sized and inexpensive by improving a liquid crystal light bulb. CONSTITUTION:In a device including a light source, a liquid crystal light bulb, an optical signal generating part having a liquid crystal driving circuit, a photosensitive part, a developing part and a fixing part, the liquid crystal light bulb is composed so that a glass substrate 11 equipped with common electrodes 17, 18 divided into two pieces and a glass substrate 12 equipped with plural signal electrodes 15, 16 being independent respectively are opposed, permitting each signal electrode to cross and face two common electrodes. Between the substrates, nematic liquid crystal having <=100kHz cross frequency fc where a dielectric anisotropy becomes zero at ordinary temperature is oriented in a twisted nematic state and is enclosed, and further the liquid crystal driving circuit which applies to the common electrode the signal obtained by alternately changing a signal having a lower frequency f1 than said fc and a signal having a higher frequency fh than said fc is provided. Further it is indicated by a transparent electrode part 14.
