Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a nondirectional silicon steel thin strip of superior magnetic characteristics by high-temp. -annealing a silicon steel quenched thin strip in a vacuum within a specific vacuum degree atmosphere and integrating (100) planes parallel to the thin strip surface. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel contg. 2-8% Si is ejected from a nozzle onto a moving body which is moving at high speeds and is quickly cooled and solidified to continuously make a thin strip, which is then subjected to annealing, whereby a silicon steel thin strip is produced. At this time, the thin strip having been quickly cooled and solidifed is cleaned by any of pickling, cleaning, electrolytic degreasing and ultrasonic cleaning and is then annealed, wherein the temp. is raised at temp. elevating rates of <=100 deg.C/hr from 800 deg.C up to 1,050 deg.C and further the temp. is raised up to 1,050-1,300 deg.C. At the time of this 1,050-1,300 deg.C temp. range, at least one side of the thin strip is exposed to a 1X10<-2>-5X10<-7> Torr vacuum for >=3min.
