Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture thin sheet of high silicon steel having very low coercive force, by spraying the molten steel to be made into high silicon steel sheet to a cooling means which rotates at a high speed, and by, after cooling of the silicon steel at a super-high cooling rate to form into thin band, annealing the band at a specific temp. without rolling the band. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal 4 of high silicon steel contg. 5-8% Si, or in addition contg. one or more members of the group consisting of <2% Al, <2% Mn, <10% Co, <3% Ni, is sprayed to the surface of a bowl-shaped rotator 2, a single roll 5, or rotating double rolls 5', 5''. The molten steel is cooled at a super-high cooling rate of 10<3> deg.C/sec to about 400 deg.C, where no growth of crystal grains or no formation of super-lattices are caused after crystallization. The high silicon steel is shaped into a thin band 3 70-80mu in thickness without being subjected to hot and cold rolling. The band is annealed at temps. ranging from 1,000-1,300 deg.C for a time not shorter than 30sec, hereby a thin sheet of high silicon steel having a coercive force not higher than 0.10e, nondirectional in (100) plane is manufactured.
