Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a soft magnetic quickly cooled alloy thin strip for magnetic heads or the like having high magnetic flux density by ejecting a molten Fe- Co-Ni-Si-Al type alloy of specific atom ratio on a cooling surface, and quickly cooling the same to solidify and cooling the thin strip made in this way after annealing.
CONSTITUTION: The compsn. of a molten alloy is controled to FeaCobNicSieMf. Here, (a) is 40W95%, (b) is 2W55%, (c) is ≤25%, (d) is 5W30%, e is ≤30%, f is ≤10%, and the sum of (a)W(f) is 100%. M is an auxiliary component, and is ≥1 kind of Cr, V, Mn, Mo, Ge, Ti, Sn, Sb, Be, Cu, Zn, Pd, Nb, W, Pb. This molten alloy is ejected onto a moving cooling surface by which it is quickly cooled and solidified to a thin strip. Such thin strip is annealed under vacuum, in an atmosphere of an inert gas or reducing gas, thence it is subjected to cooling or cooling in magnetic fields. By this method, the quickly cooled alloy thin strip having high magnetic flux density and soft magnetic characteristics is obtained.
