Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a high permeability allow for a magnetic head which alloy is superior to Sendust in magnetic characteristics and wear resistance, forms little pinholes when cast into an ingot, and slightly suffers breaking in forming by adding a specified element to an Fr-Si-Al-Ba alloy.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of Si 3W13%, Al 3W13%, Ba 0.001W5% and the balance Fe. To this alloy may be added 0.01W7% in total of one or more out of V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Cu, Ge, Ti, Hf and a rare earth element each 0.01W 5%, Ni, Co and Mn each 0.01W7%, Zr, Sn, Sb, Be, Ga, In, Tl, Au, Ag and a platinum group metal each 0.01W3% and B and P each 0.01W1% as secondary components. Or an alloy consisting of Si 5W11%, Al 4W8%, Ba 0.01W3% and the balance Fe, and to this alloy may be added to above-mentioned secondary components in a specified ratio.
