Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the wear resistance by adding a prescribed percentage of one or more among Ti, V, Cu, T, a rare earth element, a Pt group element, etc. as secondary components to a prescribed percentage each of Si, Al and Fe as principal components.
CONSTITUTION: This magnetic thin film is made of alloy obtd. by adding 0.01W 7% in total of one or more among 0.1W7% each of Ti, V, Nb and Cr, 0.01W0.8% each of Cu, Y, Zr, B, P, C and a rate earth element, and 0.01W1% Pt group element as secondary components to 5W12% Si, 3W10% Al and the balance Fe and principal components. This thin film has superior wear resistance and superior magnetic characteristics, and it is used as a material for a head.
