Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a corrosion resistant, high permeability alloy of a specified compsn. consisting of Si, Al, Mg and the balance based on Fe.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy is a Fe-Si-Al alloy whose corrosion resistance has been enhanced without deteriorating its superior magnetic characteristics. The alloy consists of, by wt., Si 3W16%, Al 2.5W17%, Mg 0.001W3.5% and the balance based on Fe. It may contain 0.001W5% in total of one or more out of Co, Ti, V, Cr, Mo, W, Ni, Cu and Ge each 0.01W5%, Ca, Mg, Zr, Nb, Hf and Ta each 0.01W3.5% and Y, Re, P, B, Au, Ag, a rare earth element and a platinum group element each 0.001W2.5% as auxiliary components.
