Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance and thermal stability of an Fe-base amorphous alloy as well as provide high magnetic flux density, high permeability and small magnetostriction to the alloy by adjusting the alloy composition to a specified composition consisting of Zr, Ni and/or Co and the balance Fe.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of, by atom, 8W14% Zr, 7W38% Ni and/or Co and the balance essentially Fe is made amorphous by solidification from the molten state by very rapid cooling. The resulting Fe-base amorphous alloy has superior magnetic characteristics and a small iron loss.
