Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the crystallization temp. of an amorphous alloy contg. Fe or Co and to provide superior soft magnetic characteristics by adding a small amount of a rare earth metal to the alloy.
CONSTITUTION: To an amorphous alloy contg. ≥1 kinds of transition metal such as Fe or Co and a metalloid such as Si or B as principal components is added 0W6 atomic% of ≥1 kinds of rare earth metal such as Sm or Ce, or Y. Thus, a stable amorphous alloy with a high crystallization temp. and superior soft magnetic characteristics such as high magnetic flux density, low coercive force and a low magnetostriction constant is obtd. This alloy is suitable for use as the magnetic material of an electromagnetic conversion element such as a magnetic head.
