Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an Si-contg. steel plate of superior phosphatability by coating an S compd. on the surface of said steel plate then annealing the same in a non-oxidative atmosphere thereby suppressing the deposition of C on the surface by the effect of Si. CONSTITUTION:An S compd. of thiourea or the like is coated in the form of an aq. soln. on the surface of a steel plate contg. >=0.2% Si, after which the steel plate is subjected to prescribed annealing in an non-oxidative atmosphere. Since the amt. of C on the surface of the high Si steel plate is reduced by the coating of the S compd., the surface deposition of C by the effect of Si during annealing is suppressed and the high Si steel plate of considerably improved reactivity with phosphoric acid is obtained.
