Abstract

C-and alloy steels contg. 1%C, and 10%Cr and 2%Mo, resp., are surface treated to improve the cold workability by immersing in an aq. soln. contg. oxalic acid and 0.5-3g/l. Cl-. The surface coating improves the lubrication during cold working. An excellent coating with good adhesion is obtd. by adding Cl- to the soln. The Cl- content is limited to prevent accumulation and overpickling.
