Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned bushing of superior abrasion resistance and fatigue strength by subjecting the surfaces of the porous bushing blank having the specific metal composition cast by a powder metallurgical process to filling-up then subjecting the same to carburizing (nitriding) and hardening treatment thence impregnating abrasion-resistant oil.
CONSTITUTION: The porous bushing blank provided with the metal composition composed of C; 0.5W1.5%, Cu; 1.0W5.0%, Ni; 1.0W5.0%, Mo; 0.1W1.0% and the rest Fe is cast by an ordinary powder metallurgical process and its surface parts are subjected to filling-up. Thence, it is heated in a carburizing (nitriding) atmosphere to 850°C to be hardened, after which it is impregnated with abrasion-resistant oil. The resultant bushing is inexpensive and is superior in abrasion resistance. When it is incorporatd into oil-less chains, the elongation per 200 hours may be suppressed down to 0.3% or less.
