Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a non-oriented silicon steel sheet having an extremely improved iron loss property, by applying a solution of phosphoric acid or a phosphoric radical to a steel slab, containing 4% or less of Si, which has been hot- rolled and then cold-rolled, and then finish-annealing the steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:A steel slab, which has been refined in a melting furnace and controlled such that the steel contains up to 0.010% C, optionally Si, Al, Mn, etc., and especially up to 4% Si, is hot-rolled. The hot-rolled steel slab is cold- rolled by one cycle or by two or more cycles accompanied with intermediate annealing into a sheet having final thickness. After the surface of the cold- rolled steel sheet is clarified by alkali-degreasing or the like, a mixed solution containing phosphoric acid and one or more of phosphates of Al, Mg, Zn, etc. is uniformly applied to the surface. The solution-applied steel sheet is then subjected to finish annealing. In this way, a non-oriented silicon steel sheet excellent in iron loss is obtained.
