Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease damages of a nozzle owing to high-velocity molten metal flow and voluminously produce alloy sheets of amorphous metal of uniform characteristics by using a molding contg. alumina titanate for the slit part of the nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: A nozzle slit part which ejects molten alloy of amorphous metal is formed by a calcined molding contg. ≥75wt% alumina titanate. This molding is joined to a nozzle body (crucible part) to a composite body. Molten alloy is brought into contact with the surface of a cooling body such as roll revolving at high speeds by using this composite nozzle, and is then quickly cooled and solidified, whereby an amorphous metal sheet or the like is continuously produced. The alloy sheet of uniform distribution of sheet-metal gage, surface roughness and sheet-metal width may be mass-produced by this method with good controllability.
