Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently produce metallic strips of uniform width and thickness by revolving two pieces of closely contacting rolls in the supply direction of molten metal, supplying the molten metal in the recess formed by the rolls and transferring and quickly cooling the same in the roll revolving directions.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal 1 is supplied into a recess 3 formed by rolls 2, 2' which are in close contact with each other and are revolving in mutually opposite directions. Thereby, the part near the point where the formation of a solidified strip initiates is isolated from the atmospheric pressure, and consequently the pressure of the molten metal 1 can be changed in accordance with the flow speed thereof. Hence, metallic strips 4, 4' of uniform width and thickness are produced simultaneosly in two sheets along the rolls 2, 2' without causing defficiency of the molten metal 1 to be supplied. It is possible to smooth the shapes of both surfaces of the metallic strips 4, 4' by providing rolls 5, 5' in contact with the rolls 2, 2' and applying slight screw down to the strips 4, 4'.
