Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a high precision thin plate efficiently by using a pair of rotating bodies and a pair of thickness regulating plates and changing relative position of rotating bodies and thereby freely regulating the width thickness of the thin plate. CONSTITUTION:A roll 2 is fixed and a roll 1 is pivoted to allow moving in the axial direction and in the direction at right angles to it for adjusting the distance of opening. Refractory covered faces 8b, 9b of thickness regulating plates 8, 9 are brought into face contact watertightly with axial ends of the rolls 1, 2. Curved side edges 8a, 8b of the plates 8, 9 are butted with the sides of rolls of other side to form a molten metal holding space 5 by a pair of rolls 1, 2 and a pair of plates 8, 9. The plates 8, 9 always pressed against side edges of the rolls 1, 2 by supporting rods 12, 13. By this way, leakage of molten metal from the space 5 is prevented and a thin plate of good quality is manufactured through the roll clearance.
