Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the seizable property of the titanium material, to realize the highly efficient, stable rolling operation, and to obtain the titanium plate of a good surface quality, by previously forming the minute oxide coat on the surface of the titanium material, and then, by carrying out the cold rolling work supplying the rolling mill oil.
CONSTITUTION: Prior to the cold rolling work for the titanium material, the heating within the oxidizing atmosphere, or the anodic oxidation treatment, etc., is applied to the titanium material, on purpose to form the minute oxide coat with thickness under about 2000Å on the surface of the titanium material. After that, the cold rolling work is carried out accompanying the rolling mill oil. According to this treatment, the change of the roll surface depending on the seizing phenomenon is prevented, and the fluctuation of the rolling pressure is eliminated, so that the stable rolling operation is maintained, and the good dimensional accuracy of the product is assured. Besides, the damage of the roll surface is diminished and the life of the roll is extended.
