Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the rate of cooling even in the width direction and enable the prevention of curling by making the thickness of a hollow cylindrical roll gradually thinner from the central part toward the both side dierections and passing coolant in the hollow part in the roll for sheet producting involving quench-rolling of molten material. CONSTITUTION:Material 2 such as Alperm or Sendust having been melted by heating is spouted between high-speed revolving rolls 4a, 4b by the pressure of inert gas such as Ar gas, by which it is quenched and rolled and is formed to a sheet 5. A drum-form inside cavity part 9 is provided in this roll 4 and the roll blank is so formed that the thickness becomes thick in the central part in the width direction and becomes thinner as it goes to both sides. Cooling material such as water or nitrogen gas is fed into the inside cavity part 9 through the cooling material feed port 10 on one side. As a result of this, the temperature of the roll surface becomes low on both sides in the width direction, high in the central part and this coupled with the contact cooling time makes the rate of cooling of the sheet even in the width direction.
