Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the production of dents and contact marks or the distortion of shape even when the metal strip is thin, by interposing between the metal strip and progress direction changing rotors, an elastic sheet which travels in close synchronization with the metal strip.
CONSTITUTION: Four cylinders 2 are combined into a square, and rotors (not shown) are provided on the spiral surface of the cylinder 2 at the progress direction changing portion. An endless belt 5 formed of an elastic sheet is provided at the direction changing portion where the progress direction of a metal strip 1 fed from a bridle roll 8 to a pinch roll 9 is changed by the cylinder 2, and interposed between the rotors (not shown) on the cylinder 2 surface and the metal strip 1. Thereby, even when the metal strip 1 is thin, it is possible to reliably change the progress direction without producing any damage.
