Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve growth of crystal grains and to obtain an excellent magnetic characteristic, by rolling quenched strips of high silicon steel by using pairs of rolls having different relative peripheral speeds, and then by performing an annealing treatment on the strips. CONSTITUTION:A quenched strip is formed by injecting a molten high silicon steel against a rotary cooling body, etc. This strip is rolled with pairs of working rolls having a >=1% relative peripheral speed difference because of a difference in the diameter or in the speed under a condition where the rolling reduction is >=0.5%. Then, an annealing treatment is performed on the strip in a prescribed atmosphere. Since the peripheral speed given to the roll pairs and the rolling reduction are specified, shear deformations asymmetrical to an axis which is normal to the rolling axis and parallel to the surface of the strip are gennerated, and the magnetic characteristic is improved by rotating crystals arround the axis.
